NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE 2026 REEDLEY FIESTA PARADE GRAND MARSHAL!

Help the Reedley Rotary Club recognize someone whose accomplishments, leadership, kindness, and service have made a positive impact on the Reedley community.

Nominees should live, work, or be actively involved in Reedley and embody the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.” The Reedley Rotary Club will review all nominations and select the Grand Marshal, who will lead the Reedley Fiesta Parade on Saturday, October 3, at 10:00 a.m. in Downtown Reedley.

To submit a nomination, email [email protected] by August 26, 2026. Please include:

• Nominee’s name
• Contact information
• A brief explanation of why they should be selected

Nominations left in the comments will not be collected and must be submitted by email.

Historical Reedley post cards now on sale. Ten different views. Descriptive captions on the reverse side. $2.50 each or five for $10.00. Available at the museum and the Chamber of Commerce office. The museum is open Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The mural (upper photo) on the 9th Street side of the former Bank of America building is based on a painting created by Milton Young, a Fresno artist and long-time art department employee of the Fresno Bee. Young created the painting in 1946 at the request of Art Tabler, a member of Reedley’s Chamber of Commerce, who believed Reedley needed a trademark image (lower photo) and slogan, “The World’s Fruit Basket.” The Chamber, under the leadership of President Bozo Aalto, promoted the use of the image and slogan. For years the image and slogan were used on letterhead and promotional materials. Tabler, the local Santa Fe Railway agent, was also the general chairman of Reedley’s first Fiesta in 1946. The mural was created in 2019 by Laurie Schoelen.

The Grand Airdome Theatre is believed to have opened in Reedley in about 1915. It was located on what is now the equipment yard just north of Kings River Tractor in the 1200 block of G Street. This was one of at least two open-air theaters that existed in Reedley during the early part of the 20th century. At the time of these photos (1929) the theater had ceased operations. However, the theater was used that summer for an evangelistic campaign featuring H. A. Davis. Volunteers had fixed up the place and renamed it “Signs of the Times” Airdome.
