Kera was a Girl Scout who created a project to help other children who had the same struggles that she did. Her idea was to help prevent self-harm in the foster care system by giving the children temporary tattoos of butterflies. She believed that no one would want to harm a butterfly. By honoring her and her idea, Arabella of High Desert Troop2113 helped many foster children find peace. 🦋

Congratulations to Arabella for her Gold Award! 🌟

Kayliana, of Low Desert Troop 2025, concentrated on the issue of bullying and isolation in her local elementary school as the subject of her Gold Award project. She donated and placed a bench in the school to let students know that if someone was sitting on it, to go sit with them and make friends so that they wouldn’t feel alone at school.

Congratulations to Kayliana for her Gold Award! 🌟🌟

When Rose’s brother was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), there was no education or support to help her understand what was happening at a stressful time. From that moment on, she made it a mission to help educate siblings about T1D, help them understand the condition, and support their families.

Rose, of Central West Troop 2026, created educational materials and a website for siblings and parents, held a book drive, and used the materials to create sibling support kits for pediatric adolescent diabetes resource education foundation (PADRE). The Padre Foundation now uses these kits to educateT1D patients’ families. I also appeared on the Type 1 Together podcast to share my experiences a type 1 diabetes sibling and promote the Padre kits.

Congratulations to Rose H. of Central West Region Troop 2026 for her Gold Award! 🌟

Congratulations to Simone B. if Central Region Troop 542, the recipient of a 2026 Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. One of 20 Gold Award honorees this year from the San Gorgonio Council, Simone created a free coloring book for children approaching their First Communion, "The Art of Prayer". Designed to support multiple learning styles, the coloring book was also made available for free to teachers via social media. 🌟

Our deepest thanks to American Honda Foundation, whose generous donation supports GSSGC's Environmental Education Exploration Program at Skyland Ranch.

Operating September through May, the program serves more than 6,000 children annually from local schools who learn about subjects such as waste reduction, plant and animal conservation, climate change, renewable resources, pollution, and collective action. The generosity of corporate donors like Honda allows us to offer free or affordable programs to underserved communities.

Our thanks to American Honda Foundation for its continued support of Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio and its environmental education efforts in the Inland Empire!
