HELLO REARDAN COMMUNITY 💖

As we gear up for Season 2 of Creating Community After School, we are looking for caring community members to join our volunteer team!

​You don't need formal teaching experience—just an extra set of eyes to help supervise, ears to listen, and a heart for our local youth. Whether you're a parent, retiree, college student, or neighbor, your presence makes a huge difference to our 1st through 6th graders.

​Volunteer Details:

​Low Commitment: Just one Tuesday or Thursday afternoon per month!

​Shift Time: 2:45 PM – 5:45 PM (October through June)

​What You’ll Do: Help keep kids safe, assist during activities and snack time, and be an encouraging adult presence in their after-school routine.

​Requirements: Standard background check and child safety training.

​It takes a village to support our kids, and committing just 3 hours a month helps keep our program running smoothly and safely for everyone.

Position Highlights:

​Role: Program Support Staff
​Who We Serve: 1st through 6th grade students in Reardan
​Hours: Part-time, after-school hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays
​Key Responsibilities: Assisting with daily activities, leading active play time, helping supervise students, supporting transition times, and helping keep our routine running smoothly and safely.

​What We’re Looking For:

​Positive energy and a genuine love for working with kids
​Reliable, punctual, and adaptable
​Ability to pass standard background checks and core safety training

​Interview Timeline:

We are actively reviewing applications! Interviews begin Tuesday, September 29th.

Creating Community After School (Season 2) officially beginning October 13th!!

As a non-profit, this program thrives entirely on community support. We are deeply grateful to our school district for partnering with us and providing a study space and activity buses for transportation home at the end of each program day.

A big thank you as well to the local businesses that fed our families, the incredible volunteers who shared their time and skills, and everyone who donated supplies or financial support. We couldn't do this without you!

As we gear up for Season 2, we'll need our community behind us once again. We can't wait to see what we accomplish together this year. Stay tuned for ways to get involved!

Last Tuesday the kids were cleaning up the community! Working in teams, we picked up trash on sidewalks around our town that would be hotspots for the Mule Days festivities that following weekend. Of course we had to end at our local park to celebrate a job well done!

On Thursday the kids got to choose between making rubber band bracelets, wooden 3d puzzles, or building solar powered cars!

Last week was a blast! The kids made some lovely mosaics on Tuesday, and got to spend the day on Thursday with some very special guests 🐐 🐰 Check out the photos!

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.

We had another birthday to celebrate on Tuesday and had a blast making our own kites 🪁

On Thursday, Virginia came back for more science! I missed some of the action as I was in a meeting about the after-school program, but the kids caught me up to speed! They tested how eggs sank in regular water, but floated in salt water due to increased density 🤯 They also did a surface tension experiment with milk, food coloring, and qtips dipped in dish soap. When the dish soap touched the food coloring suspended in the milk, the colors swirled and caused a mesmerizingly beautiful effect!
