Our Mission

Eagles Community Outreach strives to help families in Cass County to make ends meet, by providing their essential needs. Many families work and make to much to receive assistance from other programs. By providing the essential needs it is our hope that families will be able to save enough money to pay their everyday expenses.

Today Pastor Vicki Hedger presented Eagles Community Outreach with gift cards totaling $1,000! This huge blessing came from the Community Meal Fund of Lord of Love Lutheran Church. This gift came to us at the perfect time, because the need for food has been higher than ever, and our food pantry was getting low. We will now be able to replenish the food on our shelves and continue our mission of helping others. ❤️

Our spotlight this week is focused on Miss Willeta!

Willeta worked for the Lee’s Summit School District for 30 years in the business office before retiring. She has two granddaughters that she thinks the world of and attends their ball games and dance recitals. Among that busy schedule, she still finds time to volunteer at the Ray-Pec CAN program and at Eagles Community Outreach!

Willeta has been a volunteer with us for a number of years and is familiar with all aspects of the Center. She sorts and steams clothing, helps at the desk, stocks shelves and is a great organizer. She comes in early and leaves late to make sure the Center is clean and always looking its best.

When asked why she volunteers, she said that she likes to keep herself busy and enjoys giving back to the community.

We feel very fortunate to have people like Willeta as a vital link in our organization. Your commitment and dedication does not go unnoticed and we truly do appreciate you!

This week our spotlight is shining brightly on Miss Karen!

Karen knew early in life that her purpose was to work with children. She became a Montessori school teacher where she taught preschool through 4th grade. Over her 25 year career she traveled and taught in 5 states. After retiring, she wanted to still work with children, so she became a personal nanny. She also dedicated 18 years to working with the Boy Scouts.

The job that Karen does for us is a very important one. She sorts clothing and other donated items, making sure that each piece meets our quality standards and is ready to put out on the rack. She also assists our clients when they are needing a certain size or looking for something specific.

When Karen was asked why she volunteers, she said that she enjoys being around people and that she likes to help others.

We are so grateful to have Karen as one of our valued volunteers. Her commitment to our organization and to serving others is making a positive impact in our communities!

This week Miss Karen is in the spotlight!

Karen worked as a government employee for the USDA Department as an HR specialist for 33 years. After she retired, she began preparing taxes through AARP to help low to moderate income families.

Her desire to help others doesn’t stop there. Karen is on our Board of Directors and volunteers several days a week. She is always willing to lend a helping hand no matter what needs to be done. You may find her sorting clothes, helping clients, entering data on the Ipad or assisting at the desk. Whatever she is doing you will always find a smile and a positive attitude!

When Karen was asked why she volunteers, she said that she wants to make good use of her time. She enjoys helping others and wanted to give back.

Karen is a hands on Board Member and we absolutely love that! She has become an integral part of our organization and we are so happy that she chose Eagles Community Outreach to donate her time and talent! Thank you!

This week our spotlight is shining on Miss Liz!

If her face looks familiar it could be you recognize her as the nice lady who delivered your mail. She worked as a letter carrier in Raymore for 22 years before retiring.

Liz spends most of her time overseeing our pantry. She organizes, dates and rotates food as it comes in, assuring that our clients are always getting fresh items. A special project that Liz is involved in is putting together meal kits. It includes the recipe and all the ingredients needed to make a complete meal. She is always looking for ways to help the families we serve.

When Liz isn’t working in the food room, she is keeping our jewelry selection stocked. She sorts and puts out different pieces every week so there is always something new to choose!

I asked Liz why does she like to volunteer. She said that she has always lived in the area and wanted to give back to the community in a big way.

Liz, you are giving back in many ways and each one is appreciated! Your caring nature and dedication is evident in all you do! Thank you!
