Rescue is not always easy…
Some days, the weight of it all can feel overwhelming.
Recently, we had a horse founder and a goat suffer from hypothermia. Thankfully, both are doing well, but the worry, the sleepless nights, and the fear of what could happen take an emotional toll.
Then, just when you think you can catch your breath, a water main breaks, flooding everything and leaving the farm without water for the day.
There is so much that goes on behind the scenes of rescue. The constant responsibility, the unexpected emergencies, the emotional stress, and the financial burden of making sure every animal gets the care they deserve.
This isn’t a complaint. It’s simply the reality of loving and caring for animals who depend on you for everything.
And then you witness a moment like this… ❤️
A simple, beautiful moment between one of our animals and someone who has found a special connection with them. No words needed. Just trust, comfort, and a bond that is hard to put into words.
You stop for a moment and watch. And suddenly, the stress, the worry, and the exhaustion don’t seem quite so heavy.
Because this is what it’s all about. Not just rescuing animals, but creating a place where animals and people can find something in each other that they both need.
And for that moment, all the worry and exhaustion fade away.
We remember why we do what we do.
We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and some days we wonder how we will keep it all going. But we hope, we pray, and we keep pushing forward because these animals deserve every chance we can give them.
Our greatest hope is that we can continue to find the strength, the resources, and the support to keep doing what we love.
Because at the end of the day, they are all worth every bit of it.
