2 The Rescue Animal Sanctuary Inc At 2 The Rescue Animal Sanctuary, we save, rehabilitate, and re-home animals at risk of euthanasia or slaughter. Donations: https://tinyurl.com/5ftrwm2a

Our mission is to provide every animal with a safe, loving environment until they find a forever home. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit animal rescue in San Diego, California, dedicated to preventing animals from being euthanized for unnecessary reasons and/or sold for slaughter. Over 4,000.000 animals are put down in California alone every year, and our goal is to change that number! Our Rescue/ Sanctuary rescues horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, mini donkeys, mules, turkeys, ducks, tortoises, dogs, cats and chickens. Tax-deductible donations of any value are greatly appreciated in supporting our mission. Venmo

So..... The way all this started is I spent my childhood in South Africa, and have always been very passionate when it comes to animals. We were always surrounded my all different kinds of animals, and our house was always the one that had random shoe boxes with animals recovering in them. I have never understood how people are able to discard their pets, and also can't fathom destroying animals due to lack of space. I have never found it agreeable that many rescues destroy animals because they do not have the time or space to take care of or foster or adopt out animals that they have in their shelters, so the mission of 2 The Rescue Animal Sanctuary is to rescue, rehabilitate if necessary, and re home animals that might be euthanized due to lack of space in local shelters and/or sold at slaughter auctions. We hope to never have to refuse or deny any animal a safe loving environment to live in until a forever home can be found.

Our Animal of the Week is beautiful Daisy Mae, a sassy little mini horse believed to be around 15 years old. She’s timid around people and, while she was well cared for in her previous home for a year and a half, her earlier story remains unknown.

She came to live with us ten months ago, after her owner passed away. She was very shy and wouldn’t let people near her when she first arrived but today, she is more comfortable. We’re moving at her pace—no rush, sweet girl. We’re here for you today and every day after that. 🐴🌼🐴

5 fun facts about chickens! 🐔

1. Chickens use a complex language system with over 30 distinct vocalizations.
2. The Egg Song: After laying an egg, a hen sings a loud, celebratory song.
3. Talking Before Hatching: Mother hens chirp softly to their unhatched eggs, and the baby chicks chirp back.
4. Specific Predator Alarms: A high-pitched screech or holler warns of a threat coming from the sky (like a hawk).
5. Purring of Contentment: When chickens are relaxed, safe, or brooding, they make a soft purring sound very similar to a cat.

Toby was trying to break into the horse enclosure and got stuck. I love how Louie was right there trying to help. We will always have your back boys! 🐢
