Our mission is to provide every animal with a safe, loving environment until they find a forever home. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit animal rescue in San Diego, California, dedicated to preventing animals from being euthanized for unnecessary reasons and/or sold for slaughter. Over 4,000.000 animals are put down in California alone every year, and our goal is to change that number! Our Rescue/ San

ctuary rescues horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, mini donkeys, mules, turkeys, ducks, tortoises, dogs, cats and chickens. Tax-deductible donations of any value are greatly appreciated in supporting our mission. Venmo

So..... The way all this started is I spent my childhood in South Africa, and have always been very passionate when it comes to animals. We were always surrounded my all different kinds of animals, and our house was always the one that had random shoe boxes with animals recovering in them. I have never understood how people are able to discard their pets, and also can't fathom destroying animals due to lack of space. I have never found it agreeable that many rescues destroy animals because they do not have the time or space to take care of or foster or adopt out animals that they have in their shelters, so the mission of 2 The Rescue Animal Sanctuary is to rescue, rehabilitate if necessary, and re home animals that might be euthanized due to lack of space in local shelters and/or sold at slaughter auctions. We hope to never have to refuse or deny any animal a safe loving environment to live in until a forever home can be found.

Bruce Lee has been part of our family for 8 wonderful months! 🦙

Bruce Lee and his best friends, Billy Ray and Alpacachino, came to us after needing to be rehomed. They were deeply loved, and their amazing mom wanted them to find a home where they could receive even more attention and care. We’re so grateful she trusted us with them—and they certainly get plenty of love here at the sanctuary! 🥰

They’ve welcomed a new friend, Bucky, and the four have become the perfect little foursome. They love hanging out, getting into mischief, and looking like the coolest group around! 😎🦙 We call them our Sanctuary Boy Band because when they stand together, they look like they’re posing for an album cover. 🎶

Bruce Lee is our most standoffish alpaca. He’s cautious and takes his time building trust, but he’s slowly coming around and letting us get closer—which makes every little step so special. He’s also very protective of his brothers and has quite the kick when he feels defensive… hence the name!

We love watching this handsome boy become more comfortable and trusting every day. We’re so lucky to have Bruce Lee and his crew as part of our sanctuary family! ❤️

We’re so excited to tell you all about our sweet donkey, Peter! 🫏

Peter and his BFF, Tinkerbell, were both rescued together at auction, and they’ve been safe and loved at the sanctuary for the past ten years.

Today, he’s a happy, healthy boy who is still a little shy and prefers to do things on his own terms. Once he trusts you, though, he absolutely loves a good butt scratch! 😊

Peter has a very special bond with his BFF, Tinkerbell, and he’s also especially fond of his dear friend, Jenny. These friendships mean so much to him, and we love seeing him surrounded by the companions he adores.

At around 20 years old, Peter is truly a special soul. We hope he’ll continue to enjoy the safety, love, friendship, and happiness of sanctuary life for many, many more years to come. 💙

Dottie & Spot are sisters, around 9 years old, who have been part of our sanctuary family for the past six months. Although they had never been given names before they arrived, their names came to us so naturally and just seemed meant to be. 🤩

When they first arrived, they were quite feral and understandably unsure of people. Over time, they have blossomed and now enjoy spending time with us. 💖

Every day, when the chickens come out of their coop, Dottie & Spot seem to have their own little tradition—they like to be the very last ones to head back inside! They get along wonderfully with the other chickens, but as sisters, they share an especially sweet bond and are rarely far apart. Watching them become more comfortable, trusting, and curious has been such a joy. We love these two girls so very much! 💖🐔🐔
