To celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, we encourage you to take advantage of the first of two California Free Fishing Days, which coincides with July 4. On this day, you can fish in California without a fishing license.

All fishing regulations—including bag and size limits, gear restrictions, report card requirements, fishing hours, and stream closures—still apply. This year, California’s Free Fishing Days fall on July 4 and September 5. For more information, visit https://wildlife.ca.gov/Licensing/Fishing/Free-Fishing-Days.

Go out, celebrate, fish, and stay safe!

People just do not understand the ramifications behind this Referendum about to hit Oregon in November. No hunting or fishing? Commercial fishing in Oregon is a $1.1 Billion dollar industry providing $517 million in income to Oregon Households. Don't forget to mention the 10,321 jobs supporting the industry.

Commercial ranching and beef bring in over $1.2 Billion into the state in 2025. If you add commercial farming into the mix which is protected by eliminating pests which can taint the crops, it is more in the $5.5 Billion area into Oregon in 2025. Take in the food processing, farm to table and the value increases to $42 billion annual economic impact. Also, ranching accounts for 531,000 associated jobs.

Sports fishing and hunting in Oregon generate an estimated $1.9 Billion in economic activity in Oregon in 2025. Driven by an estimated 330,000 licensed hunters and 500,000 anglers who spend money on gear, travel, food, and licensing. Without hunting and fishing, the state would lose hundreds of millions of dollars from license and tag sales, and matching funding from the Pittman-Robinson Wildlife Restoration Act which is covered in the article.

Veterinarians Medicine would lose hundreds of millions of dollars due to being unable to participate in animal husbandry and preventive medicine. Hundreds would be out of jobs. Thousands of animals would die horrible deaths since you will not be able to euthanize sick pets or livestock. You would not be able to set a mouse trap, it's ridiculous.

Oregonians are being tricked by mislabeling the ballot initiative language. Most people do not know what they are signing. If there are no local suppliers of meat, poultry or fish, what are they going to eat? Everything will have to be imported into the state which will increase the cost of everyday food supplies and also increase the pollution from having to import everything into the state by rail and roadway. This is a no brainer, but the initiative has over 126,000 signatures which still need to be verified.

If you know anyone who lives in Oregon, let them know this is coming in November. Hell, I thought California was bad.....

Why It Matters: As signatures for Oregon’s Initiative Petition 28 (The PEACE ACT) surpass 126,000 and the measure inches closer to the November 2026 ballot, sportsmen and women must understand its real-world consequences. Proponents’ claims paint a simplistic picture of humane wildlife man...

CDFW Wildlife Officer Cameron Blechert received a report that a group of individuals in Sonoma County were seen taking a deer fawn from the wild and putting it in a cage. Officer Blechert responded to the location where the fawn was reportedly being kept and saw the fawn in a dog crate outside of a residence. During the investigation, the suspects said they found the fawn in the wild and admitted to keeping it for over three weeks. One of the suspects was issued a citation for unlawfully capturing and confining wildlife, and the fawn was transported to a permitted wildlife rehabilitation facility so it could be rehabilitated and released back to the wild when it is bigger and better able to care for itself. It is both illegal and unethical to keep deer in your personal possession and violations are a misdemeanor crime subject to penalties of up to $1,000 and/or six months in jail. CDFW urges the public to leave baby deer where they belong – in the wild. Each spring and summer, CDFW and wildlife rehabilitation facilities are called to assist with fawns that have been removed from the wild by local residents and those recreating outdoors.

To report an injured, sick or suspected orphaned fawn, contact your local CDFW regional office directly: https://wildlife.ca.gov/Regions

All, this page was created as an informational page sharing what our Federation believes our followers can use to enhance their outdoor experience and get their families involved in out outdoor heritages of hunting, angling, shooting, and training hunting dogs in our county and state. I try to keep the page fresh (unless I am fishing or hunting).

I know many do not like or agree with the way the state DFW is running things when it comes to predator management, fishing closures, MPA's Rules and regulations and a host of other topics. We are not the CA DFW. We will continue placing items of interests for our followers about events, activities and news.

If you disagree with the content, we are presenting, just hit the unfollow button and your day will get better. If you decide to rant and rave about any subject, you are not helping the 700+ followers.

All I am asking is for you to Just scroll on. Negative posts will be removed by the admin. If it persists, you will be blocked.

If you have a legitimate issue, you can IM us and I will reply. If you know of an event which may be in line with our purpose, send me the information and we will add it to the page.
