Putnam Cub Scout Pack 21 visits Gertrude Chandler Warner Boxcar Children Museum
On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, members of Putnam, Connecticut, Cub Scout Pack 21 visited the Gertrude Chandler Warner Boxcar Children Museum on South Main Street. Director Pat Hedenberg led the Cubs on a guided tour of the circa 1938 railroad boxcar, since turned into a museum, which shows the life and work of long-time Putnam author and elementary school teacher, the late Gertrude Warner, who wrote "The Boxcar Children" and 18 other related popular books for children. This is just one of the fun and educational things Pack 21 does throughout the year, guided by trained and experienced adults. Pack 21 welcomes boys and girls ages five through ten. To join, call John Ryan, at (860) 928-5873 and leave a message.

On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Putnam, Connecticut, Cub Scout Pack 21 visited the graves of over 40 local Revolutionary War veterans at Putnam's historic Aspinwall Cemetery. Local author and historian and Mayotte-Viens American Legion Post 13 Commander Michael Rocchetti led the tour, telling the Cub Scouts about the local men who fought in America's War of Independence from 1775 to 1783. Founded in 1709, the cemetery also contains the graves of veterans of the French and Indian War and the War of 1812. Putnam Cub Scout Pack 21 thanks the Daughters of Isabella for their donation

Putnam, Connecticut, Cub Scout Pack 21 is grateful to receive a $150 donation from St. Mary’s Circle 543, Daughters of Isabella, of Putnam, to support the pack’s programs. Regent Sue Levesque is shown here, presenting the gift to Pack 21 Cubmaster Christopher Jodoin. Most things the pack does, such as filed trips, camping and their just-completed summer camp, costs money, and help from the Daughters of Isabella and the pack’s other supporters makes it possible. We couldn't support our children without support from them. Pack 21 does fun and educational things all year long, guided by trained and experienced adults. Pack 21 welcomes boys and girls ages five through ten. To join, call John Ryan, at (860) 928-5873 and leave a message.
