Elder abuse can happen in any community, and older adults may be especially vulnerable to domestic violence, neglect, isolation, and financial exploitation.
Knowing the warning signs can help families, caregivers, neighbors, and professionals step in early and connect someone to support.
Warning signs may include unexplained injuries, fearfulness, withdrawal, sudden behavior changes, isolation from loved ones, poor hygiene, untreated medical needs, threats, controlling behavior, or unusual financial activity.
If you or someone you know needs help, Crossroads at Community Action, Inc. provides domestic violence support services for Clearfield and Jefferson Counties. Call the 24-hour hotline at 1-800-598-3998 or contact Crossroads in DuBois at (814) 371-1223 or Punxsutawney at (814) 938-3580. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.

Community Action, Inc. (CAI) extends our heartfelt thanks to Kelly Vandervort of Vort Media and Vandervort Photography (Reynoldsville, PA) for generously supporting our organization!
Kelly did an incredible job capturing photos for our new website. Not only are the images beautiful, but Kelly truly brought the experience to life making every moment fun, relaxed, and authentic while highlighting real interactions with CAI services. These dedicated professionals work behind the scenes every day to make homes safer, more energy-efficient, and more comfortable for the families we serve. From sealing drafts and improving insulation to ensuring heating systems run efficiently, their work helps reduce energy costs and keeps homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
