What does "vocational service" look like?
Rotary International's Five Avenues of Service (Club, Community, International, Youth Services, and Vocational) guide everything we do as a club, and Vocational Service is the one people ask about most. Simply put, it's Rotarians serving others through their profession.
Pullman Rotary President-elect Jess Downs is a perfect example. Downs has spent more than a decade in surgical robotics, training teams in 25+ countries, and is now program manager of downstream marketing for PROCEPT BioRobotics.
He recently brought that experience into the classroom, speaking to international sales students at the WSU Carson College of Business about how culture shapes global business—from negotiation style to contract timing to even how you dress for a meeting.
That's vocational service in action—taking what you've learned in your career and using it to help develop the next generation of professionals.
