Two things to know about me:
1. I do not like doing nothing for extended periods of time.
2. I'm gonna teach.

I've been busy the last couple of weeks. So here is a super exciting update for all of the things.

💜 I have been going to the village twice a week now. The usual Thursdays, and also on Tuesdays. The purpose is very different. On Tuesdays, I am working with one of the moms on learning to read. She was only able to go to school up to the first grade, but its never to late to learn! Then I have a group of my older kids that are learning English. Thursdays are still the typical chaos of 50ish kids and moms with snacks and various activities.

💜 In addition to that (much loved) craziness, this week, I was able to start teaching at a school with a friend. She was recently made the director of a small school just outside of San Ray. She has the same number of kids in her school that I have in the village on Thursdays. During my 3 days a week that I go, I am teaching 4 different English class and helping a handful of students with reading each day.
So far, I am in love. I anticipate only falling more in love.

💜 I also still teach online. Anywhere from 15-20 classes a week.
All of these pictures are from Tuesday. I teach at school, both in a classroom and outside. Then I go to the village and teach in a front yard/patio. Then it's back home to teach online.

😁 On a positive note, I'm no longer dealing with too much free time. The only downside is the alarm clock 😅 (and also maybe having enough supplies to do all of the activities 🙃 but we make it work).

I'm very excited and also last minute stressing about being prepared enough 😅
Except I've got plans A-Z and me pulling things out of thin air is actually me just running through every possible scenario beforehand and redirecting accordingly with predetermined backup plans.

I am so excited! There is so much to do now, but I love it.
This post is long, but it's worth it.

Starting next Tuesday, I will be teaching two different classes in the village.
Class one is for the moms. I work with a handful of moms who never got the opportunity to finish school, and some never went at all. Their class is to teach them how to read and write. There's so much freedom that comes with this. I've heard so many stories of families being taken advantage of simply because they could not read what they are being told to sign (with a fingerprint). I don't want that to happen to any of them. Thankfully, it is much easier to teach someone to read and write in Spanish than it is in English. However, speaking of English...

Class two is for my older kids (and by older I mean 10+). This is to teach them English. English opens so many doors for them for the future. Better jobs, more stability, more opportunities. This one is going to (hopefully) be very in depth. I've taught English before, but with a textbook and a curriculum someone paid for. I don't always love teaching English, because English is hard and explaining the rules and grammar is even harder. However, I do love to teach reading. So we are going with that approach as well as a conversational approach. This should tackle all the important areas. At the very least, they'll get a really good foundation for if they decide to pursue it later on.
