October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! 💼♿️
This month, BACKBONES is highlighting the many ways people with spinal cord injuries and disabilities build careers, businesses, organizations, and lives on their own terms.
Employment after spinal cord injury can look different for everyone. Some people return to the job they had before their injury. Some change careers. Some become entrepreneurs. Some work remotely or on flexible schedules. And some navigate barriers that have nothing to do with their skills or abilities.
Throughout October, we’ll be sharing stories from people in our community about what they do, what they love about their work, and what makes employment possible for them.
Because disability employment is not just about getting a job. It’s about having the opportunity to contribute, create, lead, earn, grow, and build a career in ways that work for you.
Follow along this month as we celebrate the people with SCI/D who are working, creating, leading, and making their mark. ❤️
