It’s MALTA MONDAY!

A few years ago, we moved our Member Resources from our public-facing website to behind MALTA member login. This includes applications for Cancer Grants, steps to host Family Freedom Festivals, a guide to contacting legislators, the National Home virtual campus tour, the Podium Book: Bylaws & Ritual, Building on the Auxiliary Foundation, sample press releases, links to video tutorials and much more.

On July 1, 2026, we updated MALTA for the 2026-2027 Program Year, which means you can find the new Program Book, press releases for scholarships and contests, award information, Ambassador bios and more.

Are you familiar with VFW Auxiliary Cancer Grants?

The VFW Auxiliary offers cancer grants to members who are battling cancer.

Eligibility requirements:
• Applicant must be a member of the VFW Auxiliary for one (1) full year.
• Current dues must be paid before applying for a cancer grant.
• After twelve (12) months have passed from date of diagnosis or last treatment, application will not be accepted.
• A member is allowed two (2) grants during lifetime. Twelve (12) months must elapse between new diagnosis and/or treatment from date of first grant for a second application to be considered. Continuous treatment which lasts beyond the twelve (12) month period will qualify for a second grant.
• Application will be rejected if member has been deceased for longer than 30 days.

The grant amount is currently $550.00 and funds are paid directly to the member or, in the case of a deceased member, to their estate. Funds are dispersed 2-4 weeks following the acceptance and approval of the completed and signed application.

Please read the instructions carefully before submitting an application. The most common reason an application is denied is due to missing information from either the member or physician.

Today's Auxiliary in Action is VFW Auxiliary to Post 9610 in the Department of Florida.

(This was initially posted over the weekend, but while the caption was correct, the Auxiliary number in the image had a typo; two numbers were transposed. Facebook does not allow for a correct, so we have to delete and repost. We apologize to Auxiliary 9610 for the error.)

On August 8, Florida Auxiliary 9610 participated in Lake Park's annual Back to School Extravaganza. They write, "This amazing town event supports over 700 local children as they gear up for the new school year."

Some of the ways the Auxiliary got involved include donating funds to help the town supply backpacks, stuffing and distributing more than 500 snack bags and volunteering to manage the snack station the day of the event. Auxiliary Senior Vice President Alissa Meyer sent in photos and information.

Today's Auxiliary in Action is Auxiliary to VFW Post 9143 in the Department of Georgia.

In late July, they filled boxes as part of the Treats for Troops program, led by Auxiliary member Linda Jones and with help from fellow Auxiliary members and community volunteers. In total, more than 300 boxes were filled and prepared for mailing. Auxiliary member Nancy Pierce sent in photos.
