The mission of the HEF is to provide community support for our local teachers, students and schools.

The Humboldt Education Foundation supports and administers the Hungry Kids Project; the Teacher of the Year Recognition; scholarships and mini-grants to teachers; and other projects benefiting the students and staff of the Humboldt Unified School District in Prescott Valley, Arizona

BMHS Varsity Volleyball Coach Karrie Platt was able to use HEF grant money to get 13 new volleyballs for the program to use for practices and games! Pictured here is the freshman team breaking in the new volleyballs! Go Bears! 🐻🏐😎

Christina Tormollan, a 5th grade Science and Social Studies teacher at Coyote Springs Elementary, was one of our Q1 grant winners. Check out the fun learning tools she was able to get for her students! She describes it below:

“Our fifth-grade students are currently studying force and motion and using the PocketLab G-Force sensors to bring these scientific concepts to life through hands-on investigations. Students are collecting and analyzing real-time data on acceleration, velocity, and the forces involved in collisions as they work toward designing a STEM project focused on creating safer crashes.

Through this project, students are applying the engineering design process, investigating how different factors influence collision forces, and using evidence from their data to develop and improve their designs. This experience connects classroom learning to real-world applications, including vehicle safety and crash protection.

The attached photographs also show the real-time data displayed on our BENQ interactive board, allowing students to visualize results, identify patterns, discuss findings, and make evidence-based decisions.

I am incredibly grateful for the grant funding that made this opportunity possible. The PocketLab equipment has provided our students with an engaging, authentic STEM learning experience that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and scientific inquiry.”

291 bags of food packed this morning for the Hungry Kids program! That’s 291 kids who will not have to worry about if they’ll have food over the weekend. It takes a community, and we are so grateful to be able to help ours! 💕💪🥫🍽️

We are working on making some hygiene kits for HUSD school nurses to have on hand for students who may need them. Thank you so much to The Alignery Orthodontics for donating 100 pre-pasted toothbrushes to add to these kits! 🪥🦷😁
