Pennsylvania Pleasure Walking Horse Association

Pennsylvania Pleasure Walking Horse Association To promote, preserve and protect the general welfare of the Pleasure Tennessee Walking Horse. This diversity does not happen in most clubs.

Since 1982, we have been working to promote the flat shod Walking Horse breed in all aspects of recreational horsemanship and education, as well as to honor the history and legacy of the world's greatest pleasure horse! Not only are we one of the first clubs to promote sound horsemanship; but we are one of the few clubs that are so well rounded in our efforts to support our members. They are suppo

rted with trail and show programs, breed demonstrations and promotions, awards programs, youth programs, and educational programs for all disciplines of riding. We are proud to say that we are an advocate for the Walking Horse against abusive and inhumane treatment. We are very fortunate our legacy continues in these areas. Our members can find a place to be active and show support due to the many avenues to explore. I invite you to join one of the programs and get involved. You will meet a dedicated group of people furthering the mission of the club and have fun doing it! You are welcome to attend any of our General Meetings or email us at [email protected] to find out more about membership benefits. Take the walk with us. It is a walk that has a great beat!

So glad to see a few Walkers at the PA Horse Expo in Harrisburg. They did a fine job in demonstrating our wonderful breed. Kudos to those who came on their own dime.

Far too many times, the same story has been told.
People, completely unaware of each other,
find commonality in their experiences with horses that have been sored.
That alone, lends credibility to the story.
Dutch, Sadie & Awesome, along with countless others,
will testify to the abuse they have endured.

The time has come to weave these stories together, seeing that the thread that binds them is all too real, too familiar and too frequent to be just a rare occasion.
The abusive practice of soring effects the entire horse world !

We can celebrate. But we must be aware that this could be repealed by Trump. We need to be sure this does not happen. Need to educate him and his people ASAP. I am thankful that we do have some time and maybe always that these wonderful horses will be free of this terrible abuse.

In a move that should largely spell the end of the barbaric and gratuitous practice of horse soring, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the release of its final rule to upgrade Horse Protection Act regulations. The rule bans the use of medieval stacks, chains and other cruel devices and el...

2016 A YEAR IN REVIEW

All American Walking Horse Alliance is dedicated to our mission:
~ SETTING A STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR THE AMERICAN WALKING HORSE ~
We believe the Tennessee Walking Horse must earn its rightful place as one of America’s finest breeds in order to prosper in the equine world.
AAWHA remains committed to providing factual information in a professional manner.

2016 has been a challenging year involving a tremendous amount of groundwork at the legislative level. AAWHA continues to work closely with Senators and Congressmen with constant attention to the need for the PAST act. We feel our voice needs to be heard, not forgotten.
In 2016 AAWHA:

• Continued to cooperate with the American Horse Council and horse industry leaders. AAWHA representatives participated in meetings with emphasis on setting a plan in motion to further educate constituents of Senators from Kentucky and Tennessee about the status of the TWH industry where soring and abusive treatment is concerned.

• President, Vice President and Media Advisor scheduled and attended a meeting with Executive Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs staff at the Office of Management and Budget in Washington D.C. At this meeting, information was provided to all agencies present which underscores the destructive pattern that has lead to the segregated and weakened status of the Walking Horse industry. OMB staff extended the meeting past the allotted time to ask questions about the citizen stakeholders who have invested in the breed.

• Produced a billboard in Louisville, Kentucky, during the weeks of the Kentucky Derby as part of a “Call To Action” plan with the AHC. In October a billboard was placed in a prime location for the 100th year anniversary of the University of Tennessee homecoming game. This Billboard was seen by the citizens of Knoxville, Tennessee the students and staff at UT and hundreds of thousands Vols fans.

• Supported the USDA Rule with some recommendations for modifications. Encouraged participation in the comment period and attended all 4 listening sessions across the US.

• Met with Senator Warner’s office to expedite letters from Senate co-sponsors to the USDA.

• Continues to maintain working relationships with Senate and Congress on behalf of PAST, in addition to working behind the scenes with members of the transition team.

• Attended the Equus Film Festival as a “Voice of Reason” and authority on the role of the TWH in the global equine community.

AAWHA has many layers in place for the year 2017. Please join us and become a member. Have your letters delivered in person to your representatives in Washington. For more info see AAWHA.Net
