42 Inducted Into OJR Middle School Leo Club

On Friday, May 29, 2026, 42 of the 47 members of the Owen J. Roberts Middle School Leo Club were officially inducted by their club advisor, Jennifer Scott, with assistance from Lion Barry Marteny of the Avon Grove Lions Club and Lion Terry Stouffer, Youth Clubs Liaison from the sponsoring Coventry Lions Club. These 7th and 8th graders proudly recited the official oath of membership under the direction of Lion Terry, Coventry Lions Club.

The ceremony was enhanced by the presence of Lions Club District 14-P District Governor, Lion Michael Hepner. Lion Mike performed the officer’s installation for the 2026-2027 OJR Middle School Executive Board of President, Vice President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer.

Among the new members were ten 8th graders who served their school and community for both of their middle school years and 32 first year Leos. All Leos received a certificate of membership and Leo Club T-shirts. Collectively, the club completed just over 700 hours of community service. Throughout this school year, members participated in 20 club-sponsored service projects and activities and attended 12 in-school meetings during the FLEX period.

During the ceremony, members were repeatedly thanked for their commitment to service and willingness to help make a positive impact in their school and community. Current officers took a leadership role and read the names of each inductee as they came to the podium for their certificate and congratulatory handshakes from Lions and their club advisor. Additionally, officers and club participants had the opportunity to give speeches about what Leo Club means to them or to highlight a specific service project that was personally impactful. It was a beautiful, inspiring ceremony for which many family members and school staff were present.

Advisor Jennifer Scott is so proud of this group of amazing young people and change makers. She also graciously thanked the Leo families for their support of the club making its existence possible with transporting students to and from events and balancing their calendars to help spread service and kindness in our small part of the world.

170 High School Leos Inducted into Club

On June 27, 2026, 170 students at Owen J. Roberts High School were officially inducted into the Leo Club during a ceremony held during the school’s FLEX period. As members arrived, the line of enthusiastic students stretched from the front of the auditorium, through the rear doors, and into the hallway. Fellow Leos greeted the inductees and assisted with check-in as they entered.

Among the new members were 76 first-year Leos, each receiving a welcome packet and certificate of membership. Graduating seniors were presented with a Leo Club lapel tack, a tradition that began several years ago after seniors expressed interest in having a special keepsake to wear at graduation in recognition of their years of service and involvement in the OJR Leo Club. In addition, all 170 members received Leo Club T-shirts.

Leo Club Advisor John McCormick thanked the students for their dedication and commitment to serving others throughout the school year. Collectively, the club completed nearly 1,750 hours of community service. In addition to numerous independent volunteer efforts, members participated in 40 club-sponsored service projects and activities.

During the ceremony, the members stood together to proudly recite the Leo Club Oath of Membership. They were once again thanked for their service and encouraged to continue making a positive difference in their community through a lifelong commitment to helping others.

OJR Elementary Schools Induct Lion Cubs

Seventy fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade students were inducted into the Lion Cubs Club during the final meetings of the school year. Twenty-three Cubs had participated in the club for two or three years. During the ceremony, members shared highlights of the many activities and service projects they enjoyed throughout the year. One of their favorite experiences was visiting the veterans at Whitehall Inn, where they spent time in one-on-one conversations and joined residents for games of BINGO.

As each student was introduced, they received a Lion Cub certificate. The Cubs were also presented with an official Cub iron-on patch from Lions Clubs International and a Lions anniversary pin from the Coventry Lions Club. Following a brief history of Lions Clubs International and their sponsoring organization, the Coventry Lions Club, the students proudly recited the oath of membership.

The Cubs enthusiastically applauded their advisors in appreciation for the leadership, encouragement, and guidance they provided throughout the year. The induction ceremony concluded with refreshments hosted by the advisors.

Special thanks to the Lion Cubs advisors:

EV Lion Cubs Visit Veterans

On Friday May 1st, 11 cubs volunteered their time, during the busy spring season, to join the Veterans at the Whitehall Inn for Bingo. The cubs donated the prizes and snacks, interacted with veterans, and brought an exciting energy to the event. Everyone had such a good time, we have been asked to return. Here are several photos from the event.

MS Leo Club at NC Spring Fun Fair

Saturday, April 11, from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, 26 OJRMS Leos provided assistance at the North Coventry Elementary School's Spring Fun Fair. Leos worked in two hour shifts of their choice to help with set-up, running of game stations, and clean-up. East Vincent Lion Cubs Help Veterans

Last Thursday 4/16, during our monthly meeting 14 cubs and 2 advisors organized and created 10 Basket Bingo Prizes and snacks to be used during Bingo at the Whitehall Inn on Friday 5/1. The Whitehall Inn is housing for veterans. The social worker asked for help with bingo. Several of the veterans have physical limitations that make playing hard. So the cubs with be helping by getting snacks and drinks and sitting with the veterans.
The cubs are very excited for this opportunity to help in the community.

You may wonder what happens to your money when you shell out 20 large for the best little blues festival in the SouthWest corner of NorthEast Warwick township. Every cent of the profits support the Coventry Lions Club - we don't blow it on funny hats, brown liquor and clown cars. One of our major projects is testing preschool kids for early vision problems through our KidSight program. We're out almost every week, testing at local preschools. This is just one of the reasons you should feel good about attending the Chester County Blues Barbecue on June 6th at Wyindsor Farm. Get your tickets now, supply is limited and they are selling like virtual hotcakes.

French Creek Lion Cubs Lends a Hand to Coach

French Creek Lion Cubs once again demonstrated what it means to be leaders in our school community. The Cubs spent the afternoon lending a helping hand to our very own FC Coach, assisting with organizing and distributing important papers throughout the building. Their teamwork, responsibility, and willingness to serve others made a big difference and kept things running smoothly for our staff and students.

To wrap up the meeting, the Cubs shifted their focus to spreading positivity and encouragement across our school. They created bright, colorful inspirational posters to motivate their peers as we approach the upcoming infamous PSSAs. Their messages of perseverance, confidence, and determination will surely bring smiles and boost morale in the hallways during testing season.
We are incredibly proud of our Lion Cubs for modeling kindness, teamwork, and school spirit.

Thank you, Cubs, for continuing to make French Creek Elementary a supportive and uplifting place for everyone! 🦁💜

East Coventry Lion Cubs Helps the World With the Freerice Program

Today, April 7, the Lion Cubs had worked on the "Freerice Activity". Freerice is an educational trivia game owned by the UN World Food Programme (WFP). Private sponsors match the rice grain donations generated within Freerice, triggering a financial payment to WFP. This money goes into the pot of "greatest needs" to support the organization's ongoing emergencies. 100% of all funds generated via Freerice go to the World Food Programme. Freerice does not earn or keep any money it raises. The students put their knowledge to work today and had fun!

EV Lion Cubs January Meeting

On Thursday 1 /15, 17 cubs and 2 advisors met for our January meeting. We completed our annual winter activity, where we decorate snowflakes and hang them on the staff's doors to welcome in the new year and celebrate winter. This is a beloved tradition as the cubs love to run around the building to make sure each and every staff member gets a snowflake. Here are a few pictures. Our next meeting is February 19th when we will begin to prepare for our Spring Food Drive.
