Autism is a Journey, Not a Tragedy
It isn't a disease, behavioral disorder, developmental delay, poor parenting/discipline or something a child will outgrow. It is a neurocognitive (brain) difference with a unique pattern of strengths and differences across a lifespan.

Cari's lessons are fantastic for parents, providers and anyone wanting to better understand autism today. Autism is a spectrum and there are wide individual variables. If I could turn back time I would follow her advice "love and accept the child right in front of you instead of waiting for the child society expects you to have to show up".

Personally, the deficit driven language versus the neurodiversity neutral language was really eye opening and frames autism very differently from past perceptions that linger in society.

Thank you Rural Texas Psychoeducational Services, PLLC for sharing with me.

Core strength is so important for the development of the muscles in the trunk, including the abdominals, back, hips, and pelvis, which are essential for postural stability, balance, and coordination. These foundational skills support a wide range of daily activities and functional tasks in children, such as handwriting, self-care, gross motor play, and sitting at a desk.
