๐ŸŒ• This month's full moon is the Sturgeon Moon.

The sturgeon are spirit animals significant to the Anishanaabeg people of the Great Lakes region. The sturgeon is an ancient fish species that represents both abundance and resilience.

๐Ÿ’š In this month's Full Moon Gathering, we will meditate on the true abundance of Earth, the myth of scarcity, and imagine a future where all creation thrives through reciprocity.

๐Ÿ—“ Join us Sunday, August 30 at 8pm ET/5pm PT. Learn more and register here: https://lnk.bio/s/uumfe/full-moon

Where despite disparities
We all care to protect this world,
This riddled blue marble, this little true marvel
To muster the verve and the nerve
To see how we can serve
Our planet. You donโ€™t need to be a politician
To make it your mission to conserve, to protect,
To preserve that one and only home
That is ours,
To use your unique power
To give next generations the planet they deserve.

- Excerpt from "Earthrise" by Amanda Gorman

August is National Make-a-Will Month, and where there's a will, there's a way to help.

Did you know only about one in three Americans has a will in place? A will is for anyone who wants a say in what happens to what they've built, and who they've built it for, not just for the wealthy. Whatever your circumstances, having a plan in place brings peace of mind to you and clarity to the people you love.

If you are interested in helping UU Ministry for Earth continue its work protecting our planet and building a just, sustainable future rooted in Unitarian Universalist values, the simplest, most flexible, and most versatile way to ensure we can carry this mission forward for years to come is a gift in your will, known as a charitable bequest.

A bequest plants something that lasts for generations for the earth, and for the communities who depend on this ministry.

If you would like to include UUMFE in your estate plans, reach out to Executive Director, Rev. Lauren Levwood at [email protected].

Happy National Nonprofit Day! ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ

Did you know there are 1.5 million nonprofits in the U.S. working to positively change our society? Today is all about empowering everyone to be the change we want to see in the world.

We are so grateful to be one of the organizations fighting for climate justice, but we are even more grateful for you, our supporters. You are the lifeblood of our interdependent web of life, providing the spiritual grounding that inspires deep practices of Earth care.

Because we are an independent UU organization, we rely directly on your generosity to survive.

Make a gift of $25 today to ensure our movement chaplains and climate justice activists have the spiritual support they need to stay in this fight for the long haul.

If you are ready to support UUMFE, visit www.uumfe.org/give.

"Our abundant gratitude is welling up for our outgoing communications coordinator, Audrey McCann, who has served us so well over the last year and a half. As Audrey leaves to pursue a UU parish internship, we wish them all the very best!" - Rev. Lauren Spivey Levwood, "Letter from the Director" August 2026 Newsletter

"When I stepped into this role, I was halfway through my seminary degrees and expected a smooth transition from my previous career in communications to ministry. I could not have anticipated the big organizational shifts that were to comeโ€”nor how much I would grow. Today, the heartbeat of UUMFE is strong and resilient. The passion for the spiritual health of those who care about climate justice makes up the pulse that pumps the Spirit of Life throughout everything UUMFE does." - Excerpt from former Communications Coordinator Audrey McCann's farewell letter. Today marks the 14th annual World Elephant Day - a day created to bring attention to the numerous threats to Asian and African elephants. These big, beautiful animals are not only essential to their ecosystems, but to our entire planet.
