🚨🦉 LOST & FOUND: WE NEED TO TALK. 🦉🚨

Remember when our upgraded Lost & Found looked spacious and empty?

Yeah. That was adorable. 😂

LOOK AT IT NOW. 👀

We have hoodies.
We have jackets.
We have sweatshirts.
We have water bottles — SO. MANY. WATER. BOTTLES.
We have a lunch box.
We have what appears to be an entire change of clothes STILL hanging out with us.

At this point, the Lost & Found isn’t accepting residents.

It has a WAITLIST, a dress code, and possibly its own HOA. 🤣

We’re pretty sure one hoodie has been here long enough to start paying rent.

BUT — we have a success story! 🎉

👏 SHOUT OUT to the Kindergarten parent who put their child’s NAME on their belongings! 👏

Those items were found, we knew exactly who they belonged to, and one very happy little Owl was reunited with their lunch box AND water bottle. 🥹🦉

THAT’S THE 🗝️😉

Seriously. YOU ROCK!

A name turns:

🤷 “Whose is this?”

into:

🎯 “We know EXACTLY where this goes!”

Instead of:

🕵️ “Let’s investigate this mystery sweatshirt.”

So grab the Sharpie.
Grab the label maker.
Grab the waterproof labels.
Grab whatever works.

NAME. THE. STUFF. 😂

Because we have reached the point where a child can walk right past their own sweatshirt hanging in Lost & Found and confidently declare:

“That’s not mine.”

Parents everywhere: It absolutely is. I bought it. 🤦‍♀️😂

And please label the water bottles.

Especially the water bottles.

Because judging by our current collection, water bottles have approximately the same life expectancy at school as a single sock in the dryer.

💛 Grandparents Day is coming to Highlands Elementary! 💛

Highlands Elementary will be welcoming grandparents to campus on Monday, September 14, and the PTA will once again be offering our annual Exclusive Grandparents Yearbook Photo during the school’s Grandparents Day celebration! 📸🦉

For $5, grandparents can have a special photo taken with their Highlands Owl to be included in this year’s yearbook.

✨ Important photo details:
• Photos are PREPAID and ONLINE SALES ONLY
• Online sales close Friday, September 11 at NOON
• After grandparents have finished lunch with their grandchild, they can make their way to the stage for their prepaid yearbook photo
• Photos will be taken during students’ regularly scheduled lunch times
• No siblings will be pulled from class for photos — the photo is with the student whose scheduled lunch the grandparent is attending

This is always such a sweet way to capture a special memory between our Owls and their grandparents. 💛🤎

🚨🦉 LOST & FOUND: THE SEASON PREMIERE 🦉🚨

Day 12 of school.

We tried to give everyone a little grace period before bringing this series back…

The kids said, “Absolutely not.” 😂

So here we are with the FIRST Lost & Found post of the school year — and would you LOOK at the upgrade?! 👀✨

Our Lost & Found has gone from pile of questionable life choices to organized luxury accommodations.

Unfortunately, we already have tenants. 🤣

🩶 Gray sweatshirt with a red image — checking in
🤍 White Massachusetts sweatshirt — apparently extended its vacation
🖤 Large black sweatshirt — no forwarding address
🥤 Pink water bottle — hydrated, but homeless
💜 Purple water bottle — also accepting visitors
👛 Stitch wallet — Ohana means family… so WHERE IS YOUR FAMILY?! 😭😂

And thus begins another year of our favorite game:

Today wasn’t just the first day of school—it was the beginning of new friendships, new adventures, and memories that will last a lifetime. 💛🤎

Some walked in with confidence. Some held a hand just a little tighter. Some couldn’t wait to see their friends. And yes… there may have been a few tears, from both kids and parents. 💕

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Hooray for the First Day! We loved visiting with our Highlands families and hope you enjoyed the coffee, treats, and special keepsakes for our Pre-K and Kindergarten students.

No matter how the day began, every Owl took the first step on a brand-new journey filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and shine.

Here’s to an incredible 2026–2027 school year. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things our Highlands Owls accomplish!
