Join the WSPTA Student Advisory Committee!

We are looking for students to help upraise student voice in WSPTA! We are looking for students from all areas of Washington that would like to help us form a WSPTA Student Advisory Committee!

What is the commitment?
The commitment would be one meeting a month via Microsoft Teams. The meeting would last about 1 to 2 hours. There may be other tasks that would take outside time and there may be opportunities for in-person events.

What will the committee do?
The committee will decide once it has formed, but here are some possibilities: advocate for certain legislative issues, plan student programs on issues that students think are important, plan student events and trainings and create peer to peer resources.

Who can join?
Any student in grades 6th thru 12th that attends a Washington state high school, secondary or middle school is welcome. Please note these requirements may change based on what the committee decides.

Why should you join?
You will gain leadership skills, communication skills, program planning skills and learn more about WSPTA and the role students can play. It can also count as volunteer hours and will look good on your resume. You will have a huge impact on what WSPTA offers students and on empowering student voice.

Wolves! The high school schedule for next week:

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday are full days. Remember! There is NO LATE START on Wednesday. Thursday & Friday is early out. Students are released at 10:40 a.m.

We warmly invite you to join us for in-person conferences on Thursday evening from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the high school. This is a great opportunity to check in on your student’s progress and connect with their teachers—no appointment needed. We look forward to seeing you!

Scholarship Opportunity!

Calling all high school seniors! Are you looking for a way to help pay for college? Every year, WSPTA awards a $2,500 scholarship to four outstanding high school seniors. Please see all the rules and apply today!

Only high school seniors attending a school with a PTA can apply. Applicants must have a 3.4 GPA, write about their community service, and list four volunteer/work experiences they have been a part of.

At Action Day, hosted by the Washington State Legislative Youth Advisory Council, students learn how laws are made through hands-on workshops, respectful dialogue, and direct conversations with legislators and advocates. It’s a meaningful opportunity for students across Washington to thoughtfully share their priorities and learn how to make their voices heard.
