What's new for Spring?
Saturday March 21st, on behalf of the Poland Lions Club, Lion Linda and I, plus Molly, stopped by the Riverside Dog Park to install landscape fabric and gravel over the muddy surface alongside the pavers our club installed last year.
By the way, the Red Maple is looking flush with new blossoms.

Hi Lions Facebook followers, and Happy New Year.

The Poland Lions were pleased to host Kate Harrell, our 2025 scholarship winner, at a luncheon at House of Benny's.
We visited with Kate during her holiday break from school.
We enjoyed hearing about how college life was going and adjustments to living away from home.

Kate, we wish you the best through your continuing education and thanks for representing Poland school education and community upbringing in such a positive way.

The Lions Club of Poland, OH thanks Valeria Goncalves for welcoming us to the Dorothy Day House in Youngstown November 19 in order to donate 100 "personal care" kits for distribution to clients.

The idea for the kits came about when a Poland Lion recommended finding a way to repurpose empty eyeglass cases. Each case is filled with a toothbrush, tooth paste, comb, hair pick, emergency sewing kit, emery board, nail file, nail clipper and band aids.

There are 8 "pillars" of Lionism. The two we applied here are "humanitarianism" by extending a hand to Dorothy Day clients and care for the "environment" by repurposing these cases. The eyeglasses had already been sent off to be repurposed in support of another of our pillars, "Vision" for all.

Your Poland Lions were at it again.

On Monday, November 17 the Lions helped out at the Poland Food Pantry sorting the incoming donations gathered and delivered by the Poland Public Schools.

We were glad to help out, and impressed by the generosity of the donors and the great work provided by the pantry.

Not all the Lion volunteers are shown here, sorry, I was not quick enough to get everyone.

Hope this effort helps make Thanksgiving just that much better for the beneficiaries of the pantry.

On Saturday November 15 the Lions Club of Poland, OH teamed up with the Western Reserve Joint Fire Poland Fire District - WRJFD to make available free Health Screenings for the public.

Our thanks to the Poland Library for making space available, and to the EMTs that did the bulk of the screenings. The Lions offered our vision/eye care screenings.

Thanks too for those that participated in the screenings, we hope you found this beneficial and convenient. We appreciate your participation and support of all we do to serve the community.

The Lions Club of Poland, OH extended our deepest thanks to the Celebrate Poland Committee Monday November 3 by donating a $400 check supporting their great work in making the event such a fun success for our Community.

We also thank the participants that played at our mini-golf and "axe" throwing concession at "Celebrate", your donations to play made up a good portion of this donation.

While I have your attention, please continue the support for the Lions efforts by:

1. Coming out to the Poland Twp Admin Bldg Thursday November 6 at 6 PM to congratulate the Poland student artists that submitted their posters for the 2025 Lions Peace Poster contest, themed..."Together as One".

2. Taking care of yourself this holiday season by attending the Saturday November 15 Health Screening conveniently located at the Poland Library from 10 AM until 2 PM. This event is brought to you via collaboration between the Poland Fire District - WRJFD and the Poland Lions.

Everybody c'mon out and bring your families and friends to see the Lions judging the annual Peace Poster Contest! Our theme this year is "Together As One." Held at the Poland Township Administration Building on Thursday, November 6th. The doors open at 6PM and the judging starts at 6:30PM. We've had some really awesome posters lately so come on and check them out!

Our club was very pleased today to be able to donate a Trex bench to the Poland Middle School. The bench as been placed near the flag pole, just outside the entrance/exit door on the North side to accommodate students in a cast/boot/crutches at the time of a fire drill.

Thanks Principal Purins for having us in this morning, and all the best through this school year.

Poland neighbors, please know that the plastic bags/film you drop off at the Poland Twp Admin Bldg, Boardman YMCA or Nemenz IGA in Struthers gets recycled into these benches. You can also give your donations to a Poland Lion.

As of today, we have donated 13 benches throughout our community.

Hi Poland Neighbors,
Just wanted to share with you a Poland Lions Community project from yesterday, Monday October 27.

A small subset of our club gathered to donate a Trex Bench at the Poland Riverside Dog Park in co-plaqued in memory of "Billy" Mangano and in cooperation with the Lions Trex bench recycling program.

The Lions have enjoyed serving at this park in several ways over the last few years. You will see two benches donated there, pavers below the benches, a paver walkway into the dog park and a tree planting there this past spring to provide shade to visitors as it matures.

Thanks Lions members for your help in this regard.
Thanks residents that support the Poland Lions, your support helps us live into our motto, "We Serve".
