🍂🍁 Autumn in the Northeast can be an incredible time of year — the leaves changing, pumpkin spice everything, football and cooler weather. This cooler weather provides for the disappearance of many annoying insects — however, TICKS are not one of them.

✳️ Ticks can remain active in temperatures down to around 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit. This means that while you’re enjoying the pumpkin patches and foliage the ticks are still out there looking for a meal.

✳️ Not only that, but the cold weather doesn’t lower your or your pet ‘s chance of contracting tick-borne diseases. A dog’s warm body and soft fur is a personal paradise for ticks. But once they move in — and begin feeding on your pet’s blood — they can cause a wide range of health problems, from skin infections to Lyme disease.

✳️ The best way to battle ticks is to consult with your vet, who can recommend and prescribe the appropriate tick preventative treatment for your dog! 🐕

💔 Sending our heartfelt sympathy to Jen, who had to send her beloved companion Chester over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge yesterday.

🐾 Chester was 17 years old and FIV Positive. Jen kept him happy and healthy for many years ~ Chester had a wonderful life.

💜 Helping Hands was able to assist Jen financially with Chester's passing.

🙏🏼 Thank you to the compassionate staff at Bristol County Veterinary Hospital for being there for Jen and Chester.

🙌🏼 Super Sunday Donation from our good friends at Hanson Grain! 500 pounds of dog food!

🐶 Manager Maura Tupper called and offered Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals one hundred 5 lb bags of dog food to help stock our pet food pantries, and we headed right away to Hanson Grain to pick it up.

💜 Generous and compassionate businesses like Hanson Grain help keep local pets in need supplied with healthy food.

✴️ Here are the facts:

💜 Pie contains fruit, butter, sugar, and crust—proof that good things happen when you stop asking questions. And the cream pies? Well, that's another level of deliciousness and enlightenment!

💜 Pie brings people together, improves bad days, and makes “just one slice” a charming work of fiction.

💜 Pie doesn’t solve problems. But it does make them harder to remember!

🐾 It’s a good reminder to give the pets we love a little extra attention, brush up on a few seasonal wellness tips, and celebrate all the ways we can help local pets live healthier, happier lives.

🕯️ Today we light a virtual candle for a much beloved family dog, Rocko, who was very ill with cancer and crossed the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon with the support of Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals.

💔 It has been a heart wrenching three days: we not only supported Rocko's mom with financial assistance, but we provided her with emotional support and guidance in making the best decisions for Rocko in his last journey.

🌈 Everyone here at Helping Hands sends love, light and comfort to Rocko's whole family while they grieve. 💜🐾

🙏🏼Many thanks to the compassionate staff at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists. Rocko's family expressed to us they were extremely kind and understanding.

💜 "Sharing Is Caring" is something Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals believes in, not just with our own mission, but to support and uplift other charitable causes in our amazing greater Plymouth community.

🪣 Today we highlight the The 5 Gallon Challenge Foundation, and their amazing efforts in collecting food and supplies for our local food banks and pantries. Shout out to Keith Brothers Plumbing, Inc.! 🙌🏼

➡️ Here's are the details:

The 5 Gallon Challenge for Hunger in Plymouth, Massachusetts is an annual community food drive organized by The 5 Gallon Challenge Foundation.

✳️ 2026 Challenge Details;

• Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
• Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Drop-Off Location: Bert's Landing (140 Warren Ave, Plymouth, MA 02360)
• Goal: 50,000 lbs of food, water, and essential supplies

*️⃣ How It Works

1. Get a Bucket: Use a standard 5-gallon bucket (a staple in the trades) or purchase a challenge bucket from Keith Brothers Plumbing.
2. Fill It Up: Pack the bucket with non-perishable food items and essential supplies.
3. Drop It Off: Bring your filled bucket to the main drop-off event or a participating local business.

⭐️ Most Needed Items ⭐️

• Unexpired canned vegetables, beans, and meat
• Pasta, sauces, and soups
• Milk and baby formula
• Paper towels, Lysol wipes, and hygiene products
• Diapers (sizes 2–6) and feminine care products

🫶🏼 All donations benefit local food pantries and community organizations, including the Plymouth Area Coalition, the Salvation Army, the VFW, and the American Legion.
