Plano Community Garden Announces 2026 Season Kickoff Meeting

The Plano Community Garden is excited to announce its 2026 garden kickoff meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. in the downstairs conference room of the Plano Community Library. This meeting marks the beginning of what promises to be another bountiful growing season.

Last year, the Plano Community Garden delivered an impressive 11,566 pounds of fresh produce to the Kendall County Community Food Pantry. The garden grew a diverse variety of vegetables that helped provide nutritious options for local families in need. "We're incredibly proud of what our gardeners accomplished last year," said Mike Welz, president of the Plano Community Garden.

The kickoff meeting welcomes both returning and new gardeners. Applications for plot rentals will be available to all new and returning gardeners.

"Whether you're an experienced gardener or just curious about getting your hands dirty for the first time, we have a place for you," Welz added. "Our community garden offers more than just a place to grow food—it's a place to grow friendships, learn new skills, and contribute to a vital community resource. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in 2026."

The Plano Community Garden invites anyone interested in gardening, volunteering, or simply enjoying fresh air and sunshine while helping their community to attend this inaugural meeting of the season.
