Thank God for our wonderful members and voluntees who help when needed at Post 980.

Without being ask, Jeannie Bell asked If she could w**d & mulch the Memorial area in preporation for the 9/11 ceremony.

Thank you so much Jeannie! (she will hate that I wrote this).

Of course I couldn't help, but ask if I could help her in this task, what a fun time we had together in this special task.

After we were done, we went inside, cooled off, had a refreshment or two and told fishing stories.🦈

Thanks again Jennie.❤️ thank you for being a member of Post 980.

Thank you to all our selfless members who donate their precious time to keeping this post going, we really are a family of those who have served, those who want to be of service and those who have become great friends at this post.

May we continue to grow and share in the comradery that is the American Legion Post #980 Plum Boro, PA

On June 17, members of American Legion SAL Squad 980 and ALA Unit 980 volunteered at the annual carnival at Southwestern Veterans Center. Jim Lovely, John Fox and "Ham" SAL members, brought Adapt Fore Vet Golf where the veterans and family members tested their golf skills. Laurie Vanselow ALA and SAL member Dave Kuba assisted in guiding wheelchair bound veterans throughout the carnival to get their lunch and participate in the games. The weather was beautiful and the veterans had a great time.

From Patty Churilla ALA Unit 980 & Terry Churilla SAL Squad 980 on celebrating this month's birthdays at Southwestern Veterans Center:

"We celebrated 10 birthdays this month along with sponsoring a Memorial Day pizza party for the golfers, and some who just popped in for pizza. Tom hasn’t participated in months due to vision issues, but we coaxed him down for pizza and he ended up golfing, even making some holes in one. He was smiling ear to ear at the end of the night. As always a good time was had by all."

We thank Patty & Terry for their tireless dedication to our veterans, they do us all proud.

14 birthdays were celebrated at the Southwestern Veterans home yesterday. It always pulls at our heartstrings when we are thanked over and over for our visits. It shows how volunteers are truly valued by the residents. Anyone that enjoys talking and has some free time should consider a volunteer opportunity, it is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. We joined the golfers for their putting competition, and while the men do outnumber the women, there are a loyal group of gal pals that always attend. Doris asked at our last get together if I could frame a photo of the women for her, so as to not leave anyone out we presented all of them with their official gal pal golfing photo. Every visit with them is a fun filled experience.
