“Step Up” Wednesday

Here we are! Another Wednesday challenge for married couples!!

🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️For those of you who are new here, we started a challenge back on January 7 and we are doing a total of 52 challenges this year!! Every Wednesday, we post a new challenge for married couples to complete before the new one, next Wednesday. We aim to inspire and help you grow in your marriage and your true love for each other! By helping spouses to be on the same page, working together instead of against each other, bringing love and kindness back into your marriage, etc., you will have a better marriage and see the impact in your children and have a better family life!

So, let’s get started! What is Challenge #24

💕Challenge #24: This challenge is a team effort! Husbands, open the car door for your wife! Wives, let your husband open the car door for you!

In our busy world, we tend to loose certain customs and get caught up in just rushing about! Well the next time you and your spouse travel in the car together, just take an extra minute to show each other a little love and respect!

Husbands can show their love for their spouse by going the extra couple steps about the car and treating their lady with dignity. When an important person travels around they usually have someone to open their door for them. Why would you not open the door for the most important person in your life, your wife? She will feel very loved and appreciated if you show her this simple sign of your love!

Wives can show their respect for their spouse by allowing them to be a gentleman and just waiting patiently a few seconds more in the car. Men are born to be leaders and women today have to strive very hard to let their man lead. All around us we see a strong push for women the step up and lead, take command, don’t wait for anyone, and the common saying…”Women are always right and men are the stupid ones!” Look at all the common shows and movies of today. The woman is always right and the man is always made to look bad. Or the woman comes to the rescue of the man. So, give your husband a chance to be a gentleman and practice the simple customs that were put into place not to degrade women but to raise them up and place them on a pedestal!

The complete opposite is being taught today in our world and goes against what God wants! He created men to lead and women to be his helpmate, not his slave, his helpmate! Men, take the initiative, even if it is just getting the door, and bring back the gentleman that women long for in a man and show your love for your wife and put her on a pedestal! Women, respect your husband as the leader of your family and just patiently wait and let him serve you! You both will be rewarded not just here on earth with a better marriage and grow in true and lasting love for each other, but every act of love and respect you show each other, you show it to God Himself!

God bless your marriage and your family! May God “Restore All Families in Christ” His Son!

June 15: St. Germaine Cousin

Masculinity Monday: Operation Leadership

As men and leaders, it is important to always lead and coordinate various duties, responsibilities, activities, or events. God gave men the responsibility of being the head of families and it is important for men to be active in their parish, community, and country! Men are naturally better leaders, warriors, speakers, politicians, etc.

But with all this responsibility and duty, always remember your greatest asset and the one person in the whole world that matters the most after God and Our Lady….. Who are we referring to? Who did God specifically pick out of the whole world to be with you till the day you part and die? Who else but your wife, your partner in life, your helpmate!

If you coordinate the largest operation, the most successful event or business merging, build the greatest building, or win the hardest battle and in the process loose the gem of your life, your wife, along the way…..what would those accomplishments mean then?

Yes, other men and women will praise you and compliment you. But who will you come home to? Who will be waiting for you in the quiet background when all the glamour and lights fade? Will your wife be there or is she already gone or almost ready to walk out? What would it profit a man if he would gain the whole world and build the greatest kingdom and loose his queen in the process?

Let this be a reminder to all men to value and cherish your wife now and always! Place her on a pedestal and make sure she knows it! Treat her with love and respect and kindness. She is not your servant or just another object! She is your wife and the mother of your children!

Don’t forget her in the journey to the top. Bring her along and work together! Share your dreams and goals with her but also listen to her dreams and thoughts too!

They say….behind every great man is a great woman! Let her inspiration shine through and listen to her heart!

Remember to go on dates and make time for you both to be together. Not just a rushed and quick “Hi. How was your day?” in the evening, but rather mean what you say and be willing to stop and listen!

It is not a sign of weakness to step down from your responsibilities and take time with your wife! But rather it is a sign of a good and strong husband who truly cares about his marriage and keeps the most important, most important!

So if you haven’t taken your wife out on a date in a long time….DO IT NOW!

God bless your marriage and your family! May God “Restore All Families in Christ” His Son!

June 13: Saint Anthony of Padua

Saturday: Question of the Day

“What seemed like the craziest thing you ever asked Saint Anthony to help you find? And he did!”

St. Anthony of Padua, whose Feast Day is today, is most famously known for helping people find lost things! The common prayer to pray when things are lost is……”St. Anthony, St. Anthony please come around, something is lost and can’t be found!”

Sometimes St. Anthony wants you to trust and believe in him and so he waits to answer our prayer. But other times, you can’t even finish the prayer before you find the lost item! But no matter what, slow or fast, St. Anthony always listens and comes through.

So, what have you asked St. Anthony to find and he heard your prayer?

A simple but yet overlooked action that many parents forget in our busy and modern world….🤔 “When you children at talking to you….stop, look, and listen!” Too often in our hectic world we tend to forget the importance of paying attention to our children as they try to share and express how they feel or what is going on in their little world! 🌎

All they want is Daddy and Mommy to stop what they are doing….no matter what it is…😉…and just look at them or their project they have been hard at work creating. 🖼️And as they explain and go into every little detail and every event that took place to get where they are now….they just want you to listen and pay attention!‼️

How sad and traumatizing it is to a child or even a teenager, when Dad and Mom just don’t listen! 🙉 They seem to not care or they are too wrapped up their own lives and what seems “important!” 👩‍💻 How often does a child today have to fight for attention or feel like they are competing with your phones? 📞

So let this be a reminder to you to follow these three simple rules the next time you hear…..Daddy, Mommy look what I did!!!

June 9: Sts. Primus and Felicianus, Martyrs

True Love Tuesday

The rose that blooms in full color and in all its beauty, was once covered in snow and appeared to be dead to all. It takes a careful gardener to cultivate it and help it grow to its full beauty and to fulfill its destiny!

So, why would you not cultivate your love and help it grow? Before marriage, how many dates and conversations did you have? Did you not try to win each other’s heart? Did you not make an effort to make little acts of kindness to prove your love?

Don’t let the rhythm of day to day routine dry up your marriage rose! Pretty soon you will start taking each other for granted and your rose will begin to wither and loose it’s fragrance. If you don’t take time for each other, pretty soon you’ll be just like strangers passing each other under the same roof. And your rose will end up dying!

So, be a good gardener all the days of your married life and watch your marriage bloom into a beautiful rose. The rose that was once thought to be nonexistent or dead to all other men….will be the brightest and most fragrant of all!

God bless your marriage and your family! May God “Restore All Families in Christ” His Son!

June 8: St. William of York

Masculinity Monday: Operation Leadership

On this Monday, we are going to look at a characteristic of masculinity that so many men get wrong, and along with them, women, wives, mothers, fathers, children, teachers, priests, and so many others… with the end result being an endless supply of suffering.

There is a book titled: MAN OF STEEL AND VELVET which, although not even written by a catholic, it contains an enormous amount of helpful and applicable truth and insight.

(an option to purchase from Amazon)
https://a.co/d/002LSBzi

So while one would have to sift out some of the errors, there is a tremendous amount to be gained from reading this book and applying it.

For those unfamiliar, the basic concept is ultra simple as the title would suggest, a good man is one whose characteristics can be summed up as mixture of steel and velvet.

In other words, he must have the steel of strength, courage, perseverance, long suffering, tenacity, etc… but he must also simultaneously possess and balance that with the necessary, kindness, gentleness, understanding, patience, empathy, etc…..

I think we all know parents or other leaders in various capacities, bosses, managers, husbands, and many others who might come to mind immediately who severely error to one side or the other, possessing essentially all of one side and very little or nothing of the other. Did you ever consider them good in their position?

Why is that?

Maybe because we all instinctively realize that there was something necessary missing there. Thus, those necessary balancing charactersitics are what form the essential backbone of the book.

“VERTUS IN MEDIO STAT”

- Latin for: “virtue stands in the middle”

Manhood is never just all of the macho masculine tendencies that might come to mind. In our modern world, men often exemplify the exact opposite by a lack of decision making strength, little perseverance, almost no discipline, pathetic self-control, etc.

Even the Latin word for man: “vir” comes from the Latin word, as we said, “virtus”meaning virtue. In other words, in order for a man to be a true man, even by definition he must be virtuous, and therefore in the middle.

We can look at countless examples throughout history of an extreme one way or the other, and on the other hand, many examples of men who seem to have balanced these two extremes very well to one extent or another.

But one could never find a better example than the Man (who is also God) who claimed to be “the way the truth in the life.”

No one ever had more strength, more perseverance, more tenacity, more dedication, we could say more focus, and simply in our terms, more guts to keep going against all possible odds no matter what the obstacles……… and yet at the same exact time, who had more compassion, who showed more understanding, who suffered with more patience, who extended more forgiveness, and who was more silent? Was He less of a man for any of these characteristics? Of course not. Our heavenly Father gave us His Son as God and man to be our example who will never be surpassed.

So let’s not just try to be better men, let’s follow the best Man, imitating Him and others who have imitated Him, and thus be able to have Our Father look down at us, and see as much a resemblance to His Son as possible. He was the perfect mix of steel and velvet, and the greatest leader to ever live. May He shine forth in our lives ever more brightly, with the love of unbelievable strength, and the love of unbelievable kindness, always.

God bless your marriage and your family! May God “Restore All Families in Christ” His Son!
