The vision.

Hoff’s Learning Barn is a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit educational organization dedicated to inspiring children and families through hands-on experiences in gardening, farming, and environmental stewardship. Founded by the Hoff family, the organization transforms unsold plants and natural resources into meaningful learning opportunities that teach responsibility, sustainability, and respect for nature.

Hoff’s Learning Barn offers children an opportunity to step away from screens and connect with the natural world. By spending time in the garden, greenhouse, and around animals, kids engage in hands-on learning that builds creativity, curiosity, and confidence. Reducing screen time not only supports healthier minds and bodies, but also fosters real-life skills, stronger social connections, and a lasting love for the outdoors

At the heart of Hoff’s Learning Barn is the vision to create a year-round educational hub, complete with a barn and greenhouse, where children can learn regardless of the weather. Programs include interactive lessons in plant science, small farm animal care, sustainability workshops, and community events designed to connect people with the land and each other.

Through innovative programming, a focus on agricultural education, and a commitment to nurturing the next generation, Hoff’s Learning Barn seeks to grow knowledge, foster creativity, and cultivate a lifelong love of nature.

🌱 Our Story: Hoff’s Learning Barn 🌱

For years now , Jeff and I have poured our hearts into running our garden center. Every season, we worked hard to give beauty and growth to our community through flowers, plants, and a love for the land. But each year, when the growing season ended, we were faced with a challenge: what could we do with the unsold plants and flowers? We hated the thought of letting them go to waste.

Over the years, we have listened to our customers and take everything they want from us into consideration! Many of our customers and local community groups have asked us to host workshops on gardening, plant care, and sustainability. We just didn’t have the right space to make it possible.

All of this combined, planted a seed...

If you’ve ever visited Hoff’s All Season Supply, you know animals have always been part of our story. From Willie, our loyal shop dog who greets customers with a wag, to the chickens that roam the property, we’ve always believed animals bring joy, comfort, and connection to our space. They’ve become a natural part of what makes Hoff’s special — reminding us and our customers that caring for living things is at the heart of what we do!

Quietly, behind the scenes, we began dreaming of something bigger — something that would combine our love for gardening, animals, teaching, and community. We imagined a place where children could learn about plants, farming, and animals in a hands-on, joyful way. A place for kids to be disconnected from devices and connected to life. A place where unsold flowers could become learning tools instead of being discarded. A place for hands-on workshops, classes, and experiences that bring learning to life. A place where kids could discover where food comes from, connect with animals, and grow a love for the earth that would last a lifetime.

A huge part of that dream grew from my lifelong love and knowledge of animals. I have always believed animals are some of the best teachers — showing us responsibility, compassion, and respect for life. My passion for caring for them and sharing that experience with others inspired us to make animals an essential part of Hoff’s Learning Barn. Here, children will not only learn about plants and gardening, but they’ll also get the chance to interact with and care for animals in meaningful, educational ways.

And then one day it clicked — we already had the perfect place. Hoff’s All Season Supply has an access road, leading up to some acreage we own, it has gone unused for years. Instead of letting it sit idle, we realized it was meant for something greater. It’s here that Hoff’s Learning Barn will grow: a barn, greenhouse, animal run-ins, gardens, and outdoor classrooms — all right in our community’s backyard!

We kept our dream close to our hearts, building it piece by piece, often in secret. It wasn’t easy, but with every conversation, every plan, and every idea sketched out, Hoff’s Learning Barn began to take shape.

And now — it’s OFFICIAL.

We are proud and excited to announce the launch of Hoff’s Learning Barn Inc., our nonprofit dedicated to teaching children (and families) the joys of gardening, farming, and sustainability. With a barn, greenhouse, animal spaces, and outdoor and indoor learning areas, this will be a place where young minds can grow, explore, and create memories that last forever.

But this is just the beginning. We will begin working quietly for the next year to make all our dreams come true. Soon you will see us asking for donations from the community to support a place where kinds can learn, grow, and connect with animals, gardens, and nature in meaningful ways!

What started as a quiet dream is now ready to grow into something beautiful — and we can’t wait to share it with the world. Together, we can cultivate not just gardens, but hearts, minds, and futures. 🌻🐐🌿
