Today, Alpha Delta Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated proudly champions World Mental Health Day by raising awareness, encouraging meaningful conversations, and reminding our community that mental health is just as important as physical health.

Excellence deserves recognition, and today we proudly celebrate our very own Chapter President, Dr. Monica D. Lamar! 💗💚

Dr. Lamar has been named one of Slippery Rock University’s 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients, an honor recognizing alumni whose professional achievements, commitment to service, and leadership have made a lasting impact.

A proud member of the Class of 1995, Dr. Lamar has dedicated her career to shaping young minds and strengthening communities. Currently serving as Assistant Superintendent for 18 schools within Pittsburgh Public Schools, her commitment to educational excellence spans decades.

Her legacy of service extends beyond the classroom. As a Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, she continues to exemplify the power of purposeful leadership and sisterhood.

As members of Alpha Delta Lambda Omega Chapter, we have the distinct privilege of witnessing her vision, dedication, and commitment to championing service firsthand.

It was a busy day of service for ADLO! 💗💚

In addition to assembling over 20 Duffle Bags of Dignity for youth in foster and kinship care, we stopped by the Foster Love Project to present a $500 donation in support of its annual Hair Care Workshop!

The workshop provides foster, kinship, and adoptive caregivers with hands-on guidance in caring for children with textured hair, helping them build the skills and confidence to support the children in their care.

We are excited to support this annual event and continue our partnership with the Foster Love Project. From essential goods to thoughtful hair care, we’re showing up to help young people feel cared for, confident, and valued. 💕

Packed with essentials. Filled with care. 💗💚

Today, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®’s Alpha Delta Lambda Omega Chapter assembled Duffle Bags of Dignity for youth ages 15–18 in foster and kinship care.

Each bag includes lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, socks, sanitary napkins, washcloths, journals, and water bottles. As these young people transition into new spaces, we want them to carry the essentials they need and a reminder that they matter and deserve to move forward with dignity.

Answering the call of our Great Lakes Regional Director, Jackie Davis-Betserai, ADLO is heading to the NOWPA Cluster prepared and ready to serve! 🧳✨

November 3 — Election Day!

Planning to vote by mail? Don’t wait until the deadline. Request your ballot, carefully follow the instructions when it arrives and make a plan to return it on time.

And once your plan is set, check on someone else. Ask a family member, friend or neighbor: “Are you ready to vote?”

One year chartered.

And in just 365 days, ADLO has already blazed trails, strengthened communities, built meaningful partnerships, and created a legacy of service that is only beginning.

Today, we celebrate every milestone, every act of service, every connection made, and every member who has helped shape this first remarkable year.
