Have you ever tried Russian food?

For many of us, this was a first.

From Olivier salad to hand-folded pelmeni and the refreshing, unexpected Okroshka, this night was all about stepping into something new. Oh, and we also tried kvass - a staple drink in most Russian homes.

But honestly, the best part was the wonderful stories told by Maria Gustis - a woman with a huge spirit for adventure and a zest of life.

To hear her stories over a shared meal on a lovely crisp spring evening was simply magical.

Join us at the next one.

Russian food isn’t something most of us have tried—but that’s what made this night special.

From Pelmeni to Okroshka, every dish came with a story, shared by our host Maria Gustis.
And somewhere along the way, strangers became friends.

Come to the next one.

Did you know? 🥣

Okroshka is made with kvass—a fermented bread drink that’s deeply nostalgic in Russian homes.

For our host Maria Gusto, it’s also a recipe from her grandmother ❤️

👉 Come experience it with us on Friday, April 24th from 6:00-8:30pm at Christ Church, Fox Chapel. Ticket proceeds will be donated to Sharpsburg Food Pantry.

What an honor to meet the one and only at a phenomenal talk organized by . Hearing her talk about how food is a manifestation of our culture, traditions and memories and how she’s seen people connect over food no mater where they live or their beliefs - validated the mission of our organization. Hearing her embrace her journey as an immigrant and find her voice through food and writing, was such an inspiration. We hope as more people attend our events, they too can experience the power of stories told through foods first hand here in Pittsburgh!
