🗑️🏅 Larimer, it’s time to show up and show out!

Join us for the 10th Annual Garbage Olympics on Saturday, September 19 from 9–11 AM as we come together to clean up Larimer, connect with our neighbors, and compete against communities across Pittsburgh to see who can collect the most trash!

We’re calling on our Steel City Squash families, members, board members, friends, and neighbors to come out and represent. 💪🏽 Whether you’ve been part of SCS for years or you simply want to lend a hand in the community, we want you there!

Shoutout to our very own Maurice Davis for taking FIRST in his division at the SEA Alumni Tournament in NYC!

If you’ve spent any time at Steel City Squash, chances are you’ve met Maurice, whether it’s greeting you at the front desk or putting in the work on the squash court. His talent speaks for itself, but it’s his dedication, positivity, and incredible personality that make him such a special part of our community.

Maurice is also a shining example of what the
SEA x SCS community is all about. Through squash, SEA creates opportunities for young people to build confidence, discipline, leadership, and lifelong connections and Maurice continues to embody those values both on and off the court.

We’re so proud to have Maurice representing Steel City Squash, and even luckier to have him as part of our community.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Jasmine Hutton and Lisa Aitken for our 2026 Performance Summer Camp!

These two brought so much more than world-class squash to our courts. Their energy, enthusiasm, and personalities truly lit up the entire facility. From joining our ladies for the Monday Night Member Mixer, to sharing dinner with our staff on Wednesday, and most importantly, showing up every day ready to motivate our kids and collaborate with our coaches, Jas and Lisa gave our campers an experience they won’t soon forget.

And we got to see that impact right away! One of our campers went on to win in his division at a tournament that same weekend, and when asked what helped him get the win, his response was simple: he was “using everything the pros taught him.” 🏆

We are so grateful to have Lisa and Jas in our corner and to have had the opportunity to share the week with them. Thank you both so much for coming, bringing your energy, and inspiring the next generation of players at Steel City Squash 💛🖤

Whether you’re stepping onto a yoga mat for the very first time or you’ve been practicing for years, you’re invited to join us for a morning of movement, relaxation, and community.
Join Tamika Chambers on Saturday, September 12 at 10:30 AM at Costa Basketball Court for Release & Renew Momentum! Move at your own pace, stretch where you’re comfortable, and simply enjoy being outside and moving alongside your neighbors.

Steel City Squash was proud to host the annual SEA Midwest Championship in partnership with the Squash and Education Alliance (SEA). Each year, players from SEA programs across the Midwest travel to Pittsburgh for a weekend of competitive squash, sportsmanship, and community.

The tournament gives young athletes the opportunity to gain valuable match experience, compete against top regional talent, and represent their programs in a fun, supportive environment. Boys and girls competed in the U13, U15, U17, and U19 divisions, showcasing impressive skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the week.

Our Steel City Squash student-athletes had an outstanding performance, building on the momentum from the National Championships and demonstrating the growth they’ve achieved throughout the year.

“Midwest Championships was a big highlight for our students this year. With 4 students in the top 5 of their respective divisions, we followed our Nationals Tournament performance with great momentum and motivation. I am immensely proud of the growth in our students this year which really shined through on court.” said Jose Fernandez, Head Squash Coordinator.

This year, Steel City Squash is launching our Back-to-School Supply Drive with one goal in mind:

🎯 Provide 100 local students with the school supplies they need to start the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

You can make an impact by:
🎒 Donating new school supplies at our facility
💙 Sponsoring a student through one of our giving levels:
• $25 – Ready to Learn Kit
• $50 – Student Success Kit
• $100 – Future Leader Kit

Every backpack, notebook, pencil, and contribution helps remove barriers to learning and invests in the future of our community.

🚨 Community Weather Advisory 🚨

Due to continued unhealthy outdoor air quality, Steel City Squash is once again opening our doors today, July 17, to community members who need a safe, comfortable indoor space away from the smoke.

If you’re feeling the effects of the air quality or simply need a place to take a break, you’re welcome here.

Please limit unnecessary time outdoors, keep windows closed when possible, stay hydrated, and check in on family members, neighbors, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to poor air quality.

Our community is strongest when we look out for one another. 💛
