The Awesome Spirit of Wildlife (TASOW) was founded in June 2004 by a small group of students from Slippery Rock High School, in Western Pennsylvania. Originally, TASOW was a small club of individuals who met after school to do short films on native, Pennsylvanian Reptiles and Amphibians along with educational programs on the subject for our fellow classmates. The group eventually expanded outward

to bring these programs to other schools in the local area and started a side project, rescuing local exotic pets that had been discarded or neglected by their owners. By 2007, the organization was almost completely focused on exotic animal rescue and the issues associated with the subject, that to this day, reflect in our programs. We received our official 501(c)(3) status with the Federal Government in 2009. TASOW is currently a volunteer-based organization that while, currently, still functions as an exotic animal rescue, is returning to its roots of conservation and biodiversity preservation by striving to create projects within local communities focusing on everything from captive assurance populations, to promoting habitat conservation for native species.
