Jacqueline Emerson is an actor, singer and songwriter who loves making musical videos out of cardboard in her spare time. Credits include The Hunger Games, High Potential, and Fantasia: Music Reloaded, among others. Jackie hopes people will have as much fun jamming to the Executive Order Anthem as she did writing it.

An executive order can be signed one day and reversed just as quickly without checks and balances! Presidents frequently use this method to get around the red tape we call democracy. It’s like that kid who said he’d make sure the school served pizza for lunch every day if you voted for him for class president but if he could actually do that. Crazy, right?

Here are some examples of EXECUTIVE ORDERS that have been signed by our last three presidents:

🔵 Obama (2014) signed an EO to expand DACA to cover millions more immigrant families (Dreamers)
🔴 Trump (2017) signed an EO pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement
🔵 Biden (2021) on his first day, signed an EO to get back into the Paris Climate Agreement
🔵 Biden (2022) signed an EO to cancel up to $10,000 in student loan debt for millions of Americans. The Supreme Court struck it down in 2023.
🔴 Trump (2025) on his first day, ordered the withdrawal of the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement and opened protected federal lands and oceans to oil, gas, and mining exploitation.

On this day, 50 years ago: “I’m Just a Bill” from Schoolhouse Rock written by Dave Frishberg debuted. The song is sung by Jack Sheldon (the voice of Bill) and his son (the boy learning the process). This animated short was shown on Saturday morning TV and many Americans learned the process of how bills become laws and/or vetoed from a simple song!

“Schoolhouse Rock” influenced Americans of all ages and to this day influences channels like ours with its civics lessons presented in a format that’s fun and even easy to sing along to.
