💡 Introducing Pediatric Pearls — a new series sharing quick, practical pediatric education to help parents and caregivers feel a little more confident caring for their kiddos!

First up: Respiratory Distress 🫁

As we head into respiratory season, coughs, congestion, RSV, flu, and other respiratory illnesses become all too familiar. But how do you know when your child can be cared for at home — and when their breathing means it’s time to seek help?

This post will discuss:
🏠 Signs that are generally appropriate to monitor and treat at home
🏥 When it’s time to be evaluated by a healthcare provider or urgent care
🚑 Red flags that mean your child needs emergency care

One of the most important things to watch is how hard your child is working to breathe, not just how much they’re coughing or what their oxygen number says.

Save this post for respiratory season, share it with another parent or caregiver, and remember: if you’re worried about the way your child is breathing, it’s always okay to have them evaluated!

This post is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for individualized medical advice or emergency care.

Warmer weather means more time outside—and more time on wheels 🚲🌿

Outdoor play supports children’s physical and emotional health, but safety matters just as much as fun.

Simple steps like staying hydrated, using sun protection, wearing properly fitted helmets, and practicing safe riding habits can help keep kids safe all season long.

Let’s help kids enjoy the outdoors safely this spring!
