The University of Pittsburgh's Community Engagement Center (CEC) in Homewood is a 20,000 square foot multi-purposed space that acts as an active bridge to the University of Pittsburgh and the Homewood and surrounding communities. We have a long-term commitment to the Homewood neighborhood with a minimum 15-year promise of infrastructure, staffing, and intentional coordination in neighborhoods. Imp

The Pitt CEC in Homewood’s team, when possible, works as a think-partner and strategic collaborator in the work our university, community, and city are doing. The CEC in Homewood team is hard at work preparing for our annual Community Day! It takes collaboration, planning, and a dedicated team to bring this event to life, and we’re excited to welcome the Homewood community for another day of connection, free resources, great food, and fun.

🎊 Congratulations to Leen Hamza on becoming a permanent staff member with the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS)!

After serving at the CEC in Homewood as a temporary staff member for the past two years, Leen is now the Administrative Assistant for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) Wellness Pavilion.

Whether she’s welcoming community members, supporting faculty, staff, students, or helping keep the Wellness Pavilion running smoothly, Leen’s kindness, dedication, and professionalism make a difference every day.

Are you 18–24 years old and ready to take the next step toward your career?

The Life Sciences Bridge Program – Cohort #2 is a paid, 55-hour job readiness program designed for young adults from Greater Hazelwood and surrounding communities. Participants will gain hands-on experience, build career skills, and explore opportunities in the life sciences. LSBP C2.pdf

Today, the CEC in Homewood brought health and wellness to the residents of Bennett Place alongside students, staff and faculty from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, a Registered Dietitian, and our Outreach Coordinator.
