The City of Pittsburgh is recruiting for a year-round AmeriCorps VISTA to support President Obama's My Brother's Keeper initiative. The Youth Equity and Access Associate will serve in the Mayor's Office and work directly with City leaders, community organizations, and various nonprofits to address residents' needs!

The Associate will:
Establish a youth-led council in the City of Pittsburgh.
Expand placement opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
Expand Pittsburgh's Summer Youth Employment Program.
Build relationships with local businesses and community organizations.

LAWRENCEVILLE UNITED NEEDS YOUR HELP THIS WEEKEND. They are in need of more volunteers to help make sure every child is registered for Kinder garden. On May 9th they are going to be knocking on every door in Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, and Garfield to make sure that kids are signed up for kindergarten and PreK. What we know from experience is that many kids are slipping through the cracks and not showing up to school until they're 8 years old, creating big setbacks for the kiddos and enormous burdens for the schools. We're recruiting 100 volunteers to help us get the word out about the importance of on-time kindergarten enrollment. To sign up and get more information about the effort check out the link below.
