As May is winding down, we want to remember how important mental health awareness is not just something to think about in the month of May.

Mental health is part of everything we do, how we think, feel, and show up each day! Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.

Continue to take a moment to check in with yourself, practice self-care, and lean on your support system(s). Being awareness of our stress levels, how we take care of ourselves, and the support we have.

For the last 11 weeks, MAPS team member Celina coached a Girls on the Run team at Lincoln Elementary School for 4th and 5th grade girls. The program helps girls build confidence, healthy relationships, and emotional well-being through interactive lessons and running activities that promote teamwork, resilience, and leadership.

As part of their community impact project, the team hosted a lemonade stand and raised over $300 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Recently Coach Amie and Coach Celina along with GOTR Leadership had the opportunity to tour the Hillman Cancer Center Research Labs & talk with renowned Breast Cancer researcher Dr. Adrian Lee.

This past Sunday the season concluded with a celebratory 5K that highlighted the girls’ growth, perseverance, and accomplishments. We can proudly say each girl who was part of GOTR Limcoln completed the 5K! πŸ’•πŸŽ€πŸ’–πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

MAPS team members visited North Allegheny's Marshall, Carson, & Ingomar Middle Schools where students engaged in another wellness event during their lunch period.

These wellness events highlighted Mental Health Awareness month. Students engaged in 2 different activites where they could make a positive affirmation buddy or try out the John Gottman 5-to-1 principle where there are 5 positive interactions for every 1 negative interaction. Positive communication, encouragement, & support help build stronger connections & improve overall well-being.
