The idea that UTI's in children lead to kidney problems later in life is one of the main arguments people use to promote circumcision. This 2011 study discredits this.

"CONCLUSIONS

In the absence of serious conge***al anomalies, the etiologic fraction of childhood UTIs as a cause of CKD after the first UTI in childhood seems to be small. Imaging procedures after the first UTI can be focused on finding severe urinary tract abnormalities."

There is no need to circumcise your son to prevent Urinary Tract Infections (UTI's).

Last September, the Canadian Pediatric Society updated its position statement on circumcision to reiterate that circumcision is NOT recommended.
