Did you know that Rep. Emily Kinkead is deeply invested in universal school meals, ending food insecurity, and for the last four years has hosted Seeds in the Cities, an event focused on urban agriculture in our region? Yesterday was the fourth time this event has happened, and Grow Pittsburgh organized an amazing panel discussion, which took place after a delicious lunch prepared by folks at Manchester Bidwell and a Q&A with Secretary Russell Redding.
It was great to hear Sec. Redding tell the audience we need to connect consumption to the production (farms!) when we talk about our food. Yes we do! We need to think about every step in between, too.
Events like this are inspiring and a great reminder for why we do the work we do West View Urban Farm. Thank you, Representative Kinkead for creating these opportunities. And thank you to Bridget, Sean, and the rest of your team for their hard work organizing the day!
