Wellness is a lifelong process, and for college students, success in the classroom starts with living a healthy lifestyle outside the classroom. With this in mind, the University of Pittsburgh has developed a special program called Healthy U that features unlimited opportunities and resources to help students maintain more than just optimal physical and emotional health.

February 24th-March 2nd is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. The National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) hopes to bring awareness and education, as well as support, to those who are affected by eating disorders. Eating disorders are pervasive, with 9% of people in the U.S. struggling with one at some point in their lives. NEDA offers many resources like a screening tool and list of treatment centers. By being aware of the signs, as well as knowing what to do when someone you know has an eating disorder, you play an important part of the campaign for eating disorder awareness. Visit NEDA’s website at nationaleatingdisorders.org to learn more and access resources like screening tools and lists of treatment centers.

🗣️ February 6th is Time to Talk Day—a reminder to start conversations about mental health and show support for one another. 💙 Talking openly can reduce stigma and address risk factors, helping to prevent mental health challenges before they grow.

Not sure how to start? Try the ASK approach:
✨ Acknowledge their feelings
✨ Support them without judgment
✨ Keep-in-touch to show you care

At Pitt, you're never alone. 💬 The University Counseling Center offers a free drop-in service, Ask a Therapist, where you can chat with a clinician about any concerns and explore the resources available to you.

Let’s keep the conversation going. 💕
