If you run in the Steel City, you’re a Steel City Road Runner.
In our quest to continue building one of the strongest running communities in the country, we want to make sure we’re focusing on ALL runners. Moving forward, the Steel City Road Runners will meet five times per year, bringing together runners from our region for FREE running events to do exactly what we all want: MOVE! On top of that, we’ll host fun pop-up training runs throughout the year.
To be clear, we’re not going anywhere. We just want to invest our time, energy, and resources supporting ALL Pittsburgh runners. The Steel City Road Runners Pace Team will still be pacing all of your favorite local running events, and, in addition to the FREE running events throughout the year, SCRR will continue to host the post-race tent at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.
Starting July 1, your $20 annual membership to SCRR is a donation to our Kids of STEEL program. As a thank you for your donation, we will mail you an SCRR tech shirt, send regular newsletters about what’s happening in the running community in Pittsburgh, host a public page for members to organize small organic runs, and provide exclusive access to the Marathon post-race tent.
P3R’s mission is to inspire any and all to MOVE with us, and we want to support all local runners and provide opportunities for everyone to MOVE together. Over the past year, we got to see runners create their own small groups to run when it wasn’t safe for all of us to join together -- it was inspiring! We hope to see even more of those organic meetups happening in the coming year. If you’re interested in more structured runs and training, we highly suggest Fleet Feet Pittsburgh Run Club, City of Bridges Run Club, and Pittsburgh Rogue Runners.
If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that runners will find a way to run. We can’t wait to see all of you at our first big event later this year - stay tuned for how you can sign up for SCRR starting July 1. Keep MOVING!
