More than a tool—it's a symbol of independence, confidence, and community connection. 🦯✨

Today is White Cane Awareness Day, and at VisAbility we are celebrating the incredible freedom this tool provides!

Every day, our team works side-by-side with clients who are blind or visually impaired to master independent living and orientation and mobility skills. The white cane isn't just about navigating physical obstacles—it is a tool of empowerment that allows individuals to travel safely to work, go to school, and live vibrant, self-sufficient lives on their own terms.

Losing your sight or living with a visual impairment represents not just a physical change, but also an emotional journey. Many individuals face grief, anxiety, and social isolation as their vision shifts, and while these feelings are often unspoken, they are part of the path to resilience.

At VisAbility we go beyond teaching the use of a white cane or new technology. We embrace and support every aspect of your journey. We listen, acknowledge your challenges, and offer a community so that no one has to face these changes alone.

If you or someone you care about is struggling with vision loss, remember that you are not alone. Reaching out for help is a powerful act of strength. Contact us at [email protected] to discover how we can support you.

Wow, talk about a home run for our community! ⚾️💛

A massive thank you to Koppers for their incredible generosity! Through the awesome Koppers Strikeout partnership, every single strikeout thrown by the Pittsburgh Pirates this past season helped raise vital funds for our mission.

Thanks to their amazing $6,050 donation, our team keep bringing innovative tools, training, and independence to people who are blind or visually impaired across our region. We are so incredibly grateful for partners like Koppers and for every fan who cheered on those Ks! ⚾👏

As we begin September, we reflect on August as National Make a Will Month—a meaningful reminder to take an important step in planning for the future. Creating a will helps ensure your wishes are honored, your loved ones are cared for, and your legacy reflects the people and causes that matter most to you. If you did not have the chance to start the conversation last month, now is still a great time to put your plans in place. Visit visibility.org for more information.

We would like to express our gratitude to U.S. Senator John Fetterman and Gisele Barreto Fetterman for visiting us today. It was an honor to host you for a tour of our manufacturing and rehabilitation programs and to highlight the meaningful work that takes place here every day. We truly appreciate the opportunity to showcase our mission, our team, and the positive impact these programs have on the individuals we serve.

Today we held our annual Grassroots Open House and were thrilled to welcome so many local, state, and federal legislators and their staff. It was a wonderful chance to share our story, introduce our team, and talk about our mission. These partnerships are key to what we do. By working together, we can truly make a difference.

We are incredibly grateful to Soraya Correa, the CEO of National Industries for the Blind, the members of St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind, and the members of our Board of Directors who joined us today. Their valuable insights enriched our story.
