We don’t want any of our neighbors going hungry. We have even had monetary donations from as far away as Germany!

The Northside Food Pantry Advisors (FPA) is a group of not only Northside neighbors, but neighbors from all over Allegheny County dedicated to helping the Northside Food Pantry become sustainable. The Northside Food Pantry Advisors (FPA) is a volunteer group formed in 2013 by Northside neighbors to assist the Northside Food Pantry become sustainable. The Northside Food Pantry, a program of Northside Common Ministries, serves food-insecure families that live in the three Northside zip codes of 15212, 15214 and 15233. It is the largest food pantry not only in Pittsburgh but in all of southwestern PA, and serves between 400 and 1,000 people per month who walk through the doors. Hundreds of neighbors donate time, food and money to the Pantry, community members from not only the city of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, but from around the country. Our donors are committed to ensuring that there is healthy food on the shelves at the Northside Food Pantry. The FPA’s goal is simple: We don’t want any of our neighbors going hungry.

Friends, donors, and volunteers!

Look at this gorgeous produce! Your donations and your time made it possible to serve 47 households with 147 households in them.

44 kiddos came through the line for our kids produce bags. These bags allow for fresh fruit snacks, breakfast, or fresh fruit in a lunch for the kiddos that come for their own produce.

Thank you to the recurring volunteers that attended this morning! The morning ran smoothly and that’s due to your effort!

We need you! We are trying to fill out our volunteer slots for the rest of the year and we are light on the people that matter most, the drivers and distributors of our Saturday morning distribution!

Today, our volunteers served 51 households and 49 kids. That means 51 people came through our line, representing their household and receiving fruits and vegetables for the coming week.

What that also means is that 49 individual kids came to receive their own kids bag, filled with bananas, apples, and oranges, to take home for the week. This number is exponentially increasing. The need is real and kids are filling the gaps for their family to bring in some additional fruits for the week.

Thank you to our donors and volunteers for making such an incredible impact week over week and making this possible.

If you’d like to help, consider donating or volunteering your time to our distribution.

With this increase in kids during the school year, we would love to see monthly donors that would cover the baseline amount of some of our fruit that kids receive;
$150 covers the clementine bags that we distribute
$125 covers the bananas that we pass out
$100 covers the apples that we pass out

On Saturday, 57 households were served. Those homes have 139 kids in them. The impact that our donors, volunteers, and supporters make every week is enormous but it’s also tangible. We track these things for accountability and transparency.

If you’d like to support us, the donation link is below.

$25 buys a case of bananas for the week.
$100 pays for all of the clementines bags for kids that come to distribution.
$115 pays for all of the greens for a week that are high in fiber, calcium, vitamins, and antioxidants.
$450 pays for all of our other vegetables for the week such as potatoes, tomatoes, and onions.
