Despite the thunder storm, our annual Car Cruise had a great turnout!

With around 30 cars that rolled in, Near the Edge rockin’ the outdoor stage, and all of our awesome customers who helped raise money in support of Friends of the Pittsburgh Fisher House- we’d say it was one for the books 🍻

Can’t wait to do it again next year 🚘

Friendly reminder that our 4th Annual Classic Car Cruise is this Sunday!

Mama McFadden's Kitchen will be serving lunch from 2 to 6 PM 🍔

Mike Urick and The Modelaires will be performing from 1 to 4 PM 🎵

Friends of the Pittsburgh Fisher House exists to make the guest experience at the Pittsburgh Fisher House as good as possible, providing meals, gift cards, transportation vouchers, home furnishings, and other amenities to aid in the comfort and support of Veteran's families during their stay. They currently seek a Executive Director to be the chief executive and operational leader of the Friends of the Pittsburgh Fisher House, overseeing the organization’s growth, development and fundraising activities. Home is not so much a place, but rather a sense of belonging.

It is where you don’t have to explain yourself, where you’re known, even in silence. It’s the smell of something familiar in the air, the comfort of a cozy bed, the sound of laughter from the next room. It’s the ordinary moments that somehow mean everything, shared meals, inside jokes, and quiet support during hard times.

Home isn’t perfect. It’s messy, complicated, and real, but it’s also where healing happens. Where you're allowed to rest, rebuild, and just be.

For so many military and veteran families, home can feel far away, especially when a loved one is in the hospital. That’s why Fisher Houses exist: to bring that feeling of home to families, no matter how far they’ve traveled or how uncertain the road ahead may seem.

Because home is more than a place.
It’s love.
It’s presence.
It’s togetherness.

And everyone deserves that, especially those who’ve sacrificed so much for us.

We’re excited to share a remarkable milestone — Friends of the Pittsburgh Fisher House has raised 89% of our $3 million goal to build a much-needed second Pittsburgh Fisher House at the H. John Heinz III Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in O’Hara Township.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we are closer than ever to making this vision a reality. But we’re not there yet — and we can’t finish without your help.

This new Fisher House will more than double our capacity to support military veterans and their families during some of life’s most challenging moments. It will provide comfort, community, and free lodging just steps away from the care their loved ones need.

With your support, we can cross the finish line together.

Inside a Fisher House, whether seated on a cozy couch, gathered around the hall with members of the Pittsburgh Pirates, or sharing laughter in the kitchen, you’ll find a community like no other.

This special bond is built by dedicated house managers, compassionate staff, and selfless volunteers. Together, they create a space where joys are celebrated, burdens are shared, and no one feels alone.

They lift each other up and remind us that through every challenge, a family’s love is medicine.

On May 19, the Friends of the Pittsburgh Fisher House were honored during the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Military Monday game. Our President and U.S. military veteran, Mr. Jack McMahon, had the distinct honor of delivering the ceremonial first pitch.

As part of the pregame proceedings, Ms. Amy Smiley, Vice President of Marketing for 84 Lumber, presented Mr. McMahon with a generous donation in the amount of $5,000. These funds will directly support our Capital Campaign to construct a second Pittsburgh Fisher House, to be located at the H. John Heinz III Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Pittsburgh Pirates and 84 Lumber for their continued dedication to supporting our nation’s veterans and their families.

Memorial Day reminds us that freedom isn't free. We are reminded that each fold of a flag holds meaning—faith, sacrifice, peace, hope. But the final fold… the one cradled and handed to a grieving family… that one says what words cannot.

We pause in silence for the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We honor their memory, their families, and the weight of every fold that tells their story.

We will never forget.
