We're developing the regional plan for the next 25 years, and we want to hear from you.

Built to Thrive is the official Long-Range Plan for Southwestern Pennsylvania, and it will help guide how our region invests funds now and in the future. The best way to get that right is to hear from the people who live, work, and get around here every day.

The survey only takes a few moments. Tell us which investments matter most to you and your community, and help shape what comes next.

Take the survey: https://engage-mbakerintl.com/spc

We very much appreciate your input!

This week, SPC is joining Week Without Driving, and we hope you will too.

Started by disability advocates, we encourage everyone to skip the car for a week and get around by walking, biking, taking transit, or carpooling. About 1 in 3 people in the US don't drive, and spending a few days in their shoes shows you what works in our transportation system and where it falls short.

Take the pledge + find events around Pittsburgh at weekwithoutdrivingpgh.org, and join Riverlife's afternoon meetup at Shore Thing: shorething.riverlifepgh.org/event/week-without-driving-meet-up-2/

We'd love to hear what you notice along the way! 🚶

The Commercial Street Bridge and I-376 East will re-open tonight - well ahead of schedule!

Congratulations to the team at Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the incredible workers and contractors who completed this project with such efficiency.

Our team was happy to be on hand for the announcement with Governor Josh Shapiro, Lt. Governor Austin Davis, Secretary Mike Carroll, Mayor Corey O'Connor and many local officials. We also learned that this is the largest slide-in project in the United States, something quite incredible that could set a new standard for speedy construction in the future.

Enjoy your new bridge, everyone🌉

"Infrastructure is the framework that creates connection, whether physical like a road or building or serviceable like the electric grid or broadband internet."

A closer look at our 2027-2030 Transportation Improvement Plan: $4.7 billion across 10 counties for highways, bridges, and mass transit, as well as how long-term planning shapes projects years before they're built.

Read it here:

When it comes to transportation, planning is a long-term game. A road can be found dangerous years before anything is done about it. A bridge can be a known problem long before the studies and designs and funding are in place to make changes. Expanding mass transit can be a

A massive win for pedestrian and cyclist safety in our region🚴

Yesterday, we took part in celebrating the grand opening of the Hoodlebug Pedestrian-Bicycle Trail Bridge, a project 15+ years in the making that finally gives walkers and bikers a safe way over Route 22.

Thank you to all the public officials, planners, and community members who helped made this happen. Indiana County, get out and enjoy it!

We value your input! From July 14-16, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission are co-hosting multiple open house-style sessions to share updates on the Chartiers Creek flood risk management study.

Guests can stop in during the open sessions to speak with staff, learn about the study’s progress, and provide feedback to help shape solutions.

Feedback helps the district and the commission better understand local flood-related challenges, gauge community preferences, and guide the study’s direction.
