I went from getting FIRED right before Christmas… to walking boldly in purpose.
I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom.
I was fired from a teaching job and told, “You’re not a good teacher or good with kids.” Instead of allowing those words to define me, I set small goals—got a better-paying job, rebuilt my credit, earned my driver’s license, and bought my first home at 26.
Then I was laid off again by someone that was near and dear that I trusted
That became fuel.
From my kitchen table, I started freelancing and building my mommy blog, eventually generating $10K+ in income and deciding I would never depend on one source of income again.
I went on to be recruited into roles I once dreamed about—and while pregnant with my second child, I created my own dream position by founding Kangaroo Birthing & Maternity Concierge.
Looking back, every rejection was preparing me for something greater.
I learned that I am a scarce commodity—the only person on this planet with my exact combination of talents, experiences, skills, and vision.
And so are you.
Your rock bottom does not have to be your final destination.
Start small. Set the goal. Take the step. Build the skill. Create the opportunity.
You can go from rock bottom to walking boldly in purpose.
✨ Join me at the Black Women & Girls Health Expo, where I’ll share my story and the lessons I learned along the way.
Your current chapter is not your final chapter.
