Our April 2026 meeting was also a celebration of our 91st anniversary! Our speaker, Dianna Saunders, informed us of the history of sign language and taught us a few signed words. Since it was our anniversary, we had a display of our Regents albums which show the history of our chapter's Regents from Mrs. John Phillips in 1935, through our current Regent, Joy Smith. Before we settled down to our lunch, we inducted our newest member, Allison Bergun, into the chapter. So many wonderful new, and old, things happened at our April meeting!

Our March 2026 meeting was held at Houlihan's in Mt. Lebanon where we celebrated our start to the 'PSSDAR America 250' celebration with a great lunch and a beautiful cake! We also inducted our newest member, MK, and heard from Deanna Jacobs from the PA DAR Commemorative Events committee about how our chapter can present programs on many different events that will illuminate our legacy.

Our chapter celebrated Valentine's Day with a fun and informative meeting! Dressed in our reds and pinks, our members each talked about their "DAR Journeys". How we first heard of the DAR, when we became a member, what positions we've held in the chapter and what events have we participated in. We had quite a few prospective members there and we welcomed and inducted our newest member, Phyllis Showalter!

Our chaoter's Christmas Party last Saturday was a fun filled event! We played Reindeer games (Christmas Trivia and Christmas Bingo) and participated in an ornament exchange. Our luncheon was delicious, and the Edgewood Country Club was, as usual, decorated and beautiful! Our chapter's Vice Regents, Jennifer Girty and Suzan Pore, hosted the day! We wish you all a happy and healthy Holiday!
Now we get to rest for a month and will gather again on Valentine's Day!

Last Saturday our chapter met at a new venue, Houlihan's at the Galleria in Mt. Lebanon! We had a lovely lunch and then an informative program from Morgan Meer on the Pittsburgh Trolley Era! We also collected sheets and towels for the Humane Society and our Registrar, Mary Conti, delivered them to the grateful furbabies!
Our Christmas Party will be held at the Edgewood Country Club on December 13, 2025.

For our chapter's October meeting we welcomed Brady Crytzer, a history teacher at Robert Morris University and winner of the 2023 Judge Robert K. Woltz History Award. He has written many books about the Frontier History of North America and spoke to us about the Whiskey Rebellion. We learned about what lead up to the rebellion and about some of the famous (and infamous!) people involved. It was a wonderful and informative meeting!

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, our chapter celebrated our annual benefit at the Edgewood Country Club! We had a wonderful breakfast brunch buffet while being serenaded by guitarist Matt Barranti! He lent a wonder atmosphere while we dined! Our members really came through with beautiful baskets for the raffle, and we also had a 50/50 raffle and door prizes for everyone!
we hosted our PA State Regent, Susan Gillette Meer who detailed what great things were going to happen for the next three years for our State Society! A lovely time was had by all!

So, I thought I'd update you on what our chapter did in the last 6 months before we start in September with our new term! In February we had a great lunch at a new venue, then three of our members talked about their experiences as Pages at the State and National level. The Regent, Joy Smith, then surprised two of our members with certificates honoring their years in the DAR. Suzan Pore received her 50-year certificate and Marianne Boyd received her 45-year certificate! Congratulations to these two loyal members! We welcomed 6 prospective members, most of whom are Junior age! March brought us again to the Edgewood Country Club where we learned about personal safety by our favorite Allegheny County Sheriff, Jason Tarap! He always leaves us thinking! In April we voted on a new Board of Officers and were excited to have our State Regent Elect, Susan Gillette Meer to install them! Also in April, four of our members attended our PA State conference here in Pittsburgh! May brought our annual Business Meeting and in June we had our Planning Meeting for our annual benefit on September 14th!
We are looking forward to our 2025-2028 term and hope that you all will join us!

Our chapter finished out the year with a Christmas party at the beautiful Edgewood Country Club. Our speaker was from the National Cemeteries of the Alleghenies and spoke on the honor of burial there. We enjoyed a delicious brunch, and each got a door prize compliments of Marianne Boyd. Honorary State Regent (and Associate Member of our chapter!), Deborah Davis also joined us.
