Sam’s Devotions is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization founded on June 23, 2016. Our mission is to perform deliberate and random acts of kindness to enlighten the everyday lives of men, women, children and animals and to bring smiles to children battling life threatening illnesses. We strive to spread as many smiles as possible! We have given away countless “Comfort Bags” - distributed to Po

lice and EMS to have on-hand to give to children in traumatic situations (bags contain a stuffed animal, coloring book, markers and tissues). We’ve delivered pizzas, cookies and donuts to numerous EMS, Police and Fire Stations. We have handed out bags stuffed with food and personal hygiene products to the homeless. We’ve surprised diners at Sam’s favorite restaurants with gift cards to cover their meal, we’ve given movie-goers tickets and delivered flowers to hard-working staff in every field. We have supported local animal shelters by donating food, treats and toys. We’ve also provided assistance every chance we get, donating relief packages to the recent flood victims in Louisiana and West Virginia. When supplies were low, we re-stocked the family pantry at the Oncology floor at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Sam had a very special place in her heart for children, so we honor that with our Sam’s Kid program. Once a month, on the 23rd, (the day of Sam’s passing), we pick a very special child who is battling a life-threatening disease and try to give them a day to just be a kid! We reach out to their parents and learn about the child, and hopefully find some activities they have been wanting to do, but just haven’t had the time or resources to follow through. We make it happen!

Animal Friends put out a plea they need donations for their pantry to help families in need and a neighbor says they are collecting, we run to the store to help. 💚🐾💙🐾❤️🐾

Our beautiful little Rilyn (April '20 Sam's Kid) has received devastating news, "The hourglass of time was flipped over, and the sand began to trickle when we received her scan results the end of August-there's nothing else that can be done, Rilyn isn't going to get better" her mom wrote in a post earlier today. Hughes family, we love you all and will hold you close in our hearts.

The world lost the most precious soul last night….our January 2021 Sam’s Kid Avery went to heaven. Her memory and love for animals will live on forever with our sister nonprofit Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary. A lighthouse was built and named in her honor just last month and will house dogs/cats in their very own “tiny home” We love you Avery 💔

✨ Forever 25 ✨
Today would have been Sam’s 36th birthday. Though the years continue to move forward, Sam lives on in our hearts and memories every single day. We carry her spirit with us, doing our best to bring smiles and kindness into the world in her honor.

Tucked gently in the corners of our hearts, she remains our guiding light—watching over us, reminding us to love deeply, laugh often, and shine brightly.

We love you, beautiful girl. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Sam.

10 years, how is that possible? 10 years since you took your last breath and left this earth. We still hold you tucked in the corner of our hearts, and you will forever be in our thoughts. In your honor, we be delivering cookies to some Senior Living centers and fire/police stations, we will be filling little community food pantries, and we will be blessing some folks with gift cards. As always, we hope you will continue to watch over us and continue to guide us with your light. We love you beautiful girl 💔

Last month Sam's had the privilege to help a Lady veteran who is getting back on her feet with her kiddos, we gave her an Aldi bag of household items as they are moving into their new housing. Thank you, Bill and Melissa, your donation that made this RAOK possible.

This Easter, Sam's Devotions had the privilege of bringing joy to ten families through our Easter basket initiative. Each basket was filled with the favorite things of the children, a simple gesture that was sure to be enjoyed. This act of kindness was not just about the gifts themselves, but about the message they carried: that someone cares, that they are not alone, and that even in challenging times, there is light and love to be found.
The power of community is truly remarkable. It starts with a single act—a spark of generosity that can ignite a chain reaction of goodwill.
These ripples of kindness are the heart of what we do at Sam's Devotions. We believe that every act matters, no matter how small. Whether it's a smile shared with a stranger, a meal cooked for a neighbor, or a simple note of encouragement left for someone in need, each gesture has the potential to transform lives and strengthen the bonds within our community.

Sam’s Devotions would like to wish everyone a very 🦃 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 We had the honor of helping a local gentleman who provides dinner for 15-20 people in his housing complex. Much love and happiness to all.
