Did you know that the Energy Innovation Center is using advanced biotechnology to cut our waste management costs by 50%? ♻️🏢

We've been using the Zeus anaerobic digester by regional innovators Ecotone Renewables to streamline our facility's footprint. This system takes organic waste from our kitchens and naturally breaks it down into a nutrient-rich fertilizer.

We've been incredibly happy with the results. Not only has it been environmentally beneficial, but it has also cut our monthly trash removal bill completely in half!

We are incredibly proud to support and house forward-thinking technologies that demonstrate sustainability and smart business go hand in hand.

These participants just celebrated their commencement ceremony right here at the Energy Innovation Center, marking the completion of their pre-apprenticeship through the Pittsburgh Gateways Introduction to the Construction Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program. 🛠️

It is incredibly powerful to see milestones like this in our building. It's a continuation of a long regional legacy of training the minds and hands that build our communities.

The Energy Innovation Center was honored to serve as the backdrop yesterday as Allegheny County Government Executive Sara Innamorato signed the ACT NOW Executive Order, establishing a coordinated framework to position our region as a national leader in clean technology and advanced manufacturing.

To kick off the event, Pittsburgh Gateways CEO and President Don Evans welcomed regional leaders, highlighting the legacy of our historic Connelley Trade School building and its ongoing transformation into a premier hub for cutting-edge energy research and development.

We are also incredibly proud to see the actual products and tech of the EIC ecosystem in action. EIC onsite tenant CorePower Magnetics was represented on the Building Regional Capacity & Coordination panel by Matt Glodowski (President - Alloys & Materials), demonstrating the commercial power of next-gen advanced materials right here in Pittsburgh.

The Energy Innovation Center is proud to celebrate the upcoming launch of Allegheny County’s first-ever Climate Action Plan (CAP), a monumental framework guided in part by our parent organization, Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation, through their participation in the Climate Working Group.

Now, the county is launching its final phase of public engagement, and YOUR VOICE is needed to shape the future of sustainable infrastructure across our communities.

Join regional leaders and residents for a family-friendly Open House to share your perspective on building a more resilient economic and environmental future for Western Pennsylvania:

$11.3 million in grants is heading to 40 organizations working to connect young people in southwestern Pennsylvania to careers that pay life-sustaining wages.

Workforce is now a core strategy for the Endowments, joining Arts & Culture, Civic Participation, Climate Environment & Health, Community & Economic Development, Food Systems, and Veterans. These Workforce grants span 10 counties and support everything from pre-apprenticeship programs to childcare access to long-term research.
