Today I s*xed & separted 2 litters of babys & moved the moms out putting baby boys in one CN cage & baby girls in another CN cage they were put in with litter #1 who were already s*xed & separted.
The first three litters are now all together by s*x.
I mark the tails with sharpee so I know which litter is which.
The 1st litter born has no markings it has 6 girls & 5 boys,
the 2nd litter born has blue markings it has 11 boys & 2 girls
& the 3rd litter born is marked with red sharpee & has 7 girls & 3 boys.
Girls cage containing first 3 litters has total now of 15 little girls.
Boys cage containing first 3 litters now has 19 boys.
Next week I will s*x & separte the last three litters born litter # 4, 5, & 6 & they will go together in 2 different CN cages by s*x.
Adoptions are now beginning refer to pinned post by me ( Lisa) below this post for more info.

Yesterday was move up day for some of the rats. I worked 12 hours straight moving rats around getting cages cleaned out & set up & pulling more Martin cages out of storage cleaning & setting those up for the last 2 moms & their pups. Its hard for a normal person to imagine the work that goes into animal rescue, care & maintenence.
In addition to litter #1 being s*xed, separted & move to spacious single Critter nation cages to allow more babys of the same s*x to b added as others r adopted I moved the 2 moms & their litters they r litter #5 & litter #6 out of their maturnity cages they have been in for 2 weeks into Martin cages. I knew this had to b done before those 2 litters started coming out of the nests. The plastic bottom maturnity cages I had them in were in my opinion not safe for little baby rats once they started climbing they served their purpose then not so much now. Critter Nation & Martin cages r on the other hand r rat escape proof & those type of cages have never let me down.
12 hours of hard work later all 6 litters r safe & secure in either Critter Nation or Martin cages & all have plenty of space.
Both mom's were really good too with the moves & were well rewarded with Cinnamon Roll & pumpkin cookies.
Enjoy todays baby's pics of Litter #5
( 10 baby's) & Litter #6 ( 8 baby's).
I am amazed at how beautiful all these baby's are from all 6 litters & what a wide variety of types & colors we have, something for everyone 😍

I just received these two 40 lb bags of Mazuri Breeder Baby/Mom Rat Food that they just donated & had shipped to us.
It is just in time for Litter #1

Just to let everyone know Amazon Prime has this baby rat block food on sale $3 off. Thank you Annette.

Today I took each mom out of their maturnity cage & physically counted every baby in each of their litters to get a precise count on babys.
I had been guessing how many some had on just quick photos I took when a mom would leave the nest.
We have a total of 63 beautiful rattie babys & the 5 moms r taking good care of them.
The first litter of 11 has no mom & they r still on kmr but r now eating cheerios & oats.
We will in a matter of weeks have lots of adorable babys to adopt out.
