Today we remember St. Teresa of Ávila also known as St. Teresa of Jesus.

St. Teresa of Jesus was a Carmelite Nun who was profoundly spiritual who is know for her many writing such as the "The Interior Castle" and "The Way of Perfection" that have guided many Catholics on how to pray, using her own experiences as an example to follow.

She along with St. Catherine of Siena became the first two women to be named a “Doctor of the Church." She is known as the "Doctor of Prayer." Along side her writings, she also founded seventeen convents throughout Spain. She died in 1582 and was canonized on March 22, 1622.

Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. We are happy to announce that Saint Paul of the Cross Parish is sponsoring a CYM boys' basketball team for the 2026–2027 season!🏀

Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) basketball is open to any boys in grades 9–12 who are not currently on a high school or club basketball team. The purpose of this team is to provide an outlet for young men to deepen their faith through athletics, fellowship, and sportsmanship.

We will stand and peacefully pray in the public right-of-way outside Planned Parenthood at 933 Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh. You do not need to stay for the entire time. Please join us in prayer for any length of time for all who are harmed by abortion. 🙏

Today is the feast day of Saint Carlo Acutis, the "first millennial saint."

Carlo grew up fascinated by computers and he had a strong devotion to the Eucharist. With his knowledge of the internet, he created a website documenting Eucharistic miracles. He was diagnosed with promyelocytic leukemia and died in 2006 at the age of 15.

His simple, ordinary witness is an inspiration to a generation of young Catholics to reconsider what sainthood can look like in this digital age.

The parable in today’s Gospel provides us a teaching on the Kingdom of God. Through Christ, all people are called into his wedding banquet, though "many are invited, but few are chosen."

The feast we are welcomed into is a celebration in God’s honor of the renewing of his creation and the defeat of sin and death. This renewal is symbolized in the parable by the wedding garments worn by the guests.

While historians and theologians have not come to a consensus on the accuracy of historical context, the wedding garments were likely provided by the host himself. Hence, by no merit of their own, the guests "bad and good alike" were all given the same gift. To refuse that gift is to refuse the reason for the banquet.

In our baptism, we were given a symbolic white garment with the instruction to bring it unstained into eternal life. Having received our invitation, may we strive to be prepared for the King’s feast and share fully in our Lord’s victory!

The Respect Life Ministry is hosting its annual Baby Bottle Drive beginning with bottle distribution this weekend, October 10 and 11, at all Masses. Please return filled bottles by the weekend of October 24 and 25 for collection at both churches.

Proceeds will be donated to Birthright, Mary's Place, and Little Lamb Resale, as well as used to provide Respect Life resources to the parish. Thank you so much for your generosity! 🍼
