Class starts this Wednesday! 🤟

There’s still time to register for HDS’s ASL Beginner Class, beginning Wednesday, October 7 from 6–8 PM at the HDS Main Office.

Whether you’re brand new to American Sign Language or looking to build a stronger foundation, this class is a great place to start.

Better access to hearing healthcare starts with meeting people where they are.

HDS is proud of our Assistive Device Center which provides hearing screenings at community events, share information about available resources, and connect individuals with our hearing aid grant program.

Through this program, eligible individuals in need may be able to access hearing aids at low or no cost. Together, we’re helping more people across our community get the hearing support they need. 💜

We are so grateful to Mascaro Construction for helping bring this vision to life!

The renovation of HDS’s third floor has created 5,000 square feet of new and improved space, including a large program room, sensory-friendly room, and new offices designed to better support our programs, staff, and the individuals and families we serve.

Thank you to the entire Mascaro team for your partnership, care, and hard work throughout this project. We are excited for all that will happen in this new space!

HDS Erie enjoyed a day at Hagen History & Sonshine Distillery’s Sunflower Field! 🌻

Our clients and staff spent time exploring the sunflower fields, taking in the scenery, and enjoying a fun day together in the community.

We’re grateful for opportunities like these that give our clients a chance to connect, explore, and make memories outside of our offices.

Our Westmoreland office is celebrating Deaf Awareness Month with some creativity! 💜

Jenna, our Program Specialist, and HDS clients worked together to create this “Signs of Greatness” display, highlighting Deaf history, culture, innovation, and some facts you may not know.

We love seeing our clients come together to learn, create, and celebrate the Deaf community throughout September.

Governor Josh Shapiro has proclaimed September 13–19, 2026, as Direct Support Professional (DSP) Week in Pennsylvania.

HDS proudly recognizes and celebrates our incredible Direct Support Professionals and the profound difference they make in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism.

Every day, our DSPs show up with compassion, patience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to the people they support. They celebrate successes, provide encouragement through challenges, and help ensure each individual feels valued, respected, heard, and included.

Because of their work, individuals with disabilities have opportunities to build meaningful relationships, participate in their communities, and experience greater independence and connection.

To our DSPs: thank you for your heart, your dedication, and the countless ways you make our communities more compassionate and inclusive.
